JULY 18-30, 2019
Maybe it’s the pure mountain air of Denali, or the awe of watching Orcas slip through the icy waves. Maybe it’s the cultures that have thrived for hundreds of years, or the land that looks like
it has never been touched. All of these things and more combine to create a magical land
called Alaska. For those who have dreamed of experiencing “The Great Land”, wait no
longer. USS Tours will make your dream a reality!
Day 3: This morning, travel on the Alaska Railroad
to Denali National Park with 360-degree
views from your deluxe dome railcar seats. As
you travel through the high tundra plateau into the gorgeous
scenery of the Healy Gorge and Canyon, be watchful for wildlife. This afternoon we arrive in Denali and prepare for an incredible 7-hour Wildlife Tour as you travel 53 miles into Denali National Park in search of the Big Five: Dall Sheep, Grizzles, a glimpse at the magnificent Denali, Moose and Caribou. Return to Denali for dinner on-your-own and a good night’s sleep. While in this beautiful park, take time to experience the solitude and tranquility of this 6-million-acre wilderness.
Day 4: Your morning is free for optional activities in Denali like horseback riding or rafting on the Nenana River. Later in the day, board the Alaska Railroad from Denali to Talkeetna, again in a deluxe dome railcar. Talkeetna has an early Alaska flavor. Log cabins, road house and dirt streets with a hand-carved sign that says “Welcome to Beautiful
Downtown Talkeetna”!. Located at the base
of North America’s tallest peak, Denali,
Talkeetna is an excellent vantage point for photos. The upper
half of Denali is permanently
covered with snow and has 5 massive glaciers on
its slopes! Later continue via motorcoach from Talkeetna to Anchorage where you will check into your hotel for the night.
Day 5: This morning, coach to the Alaska Zoo exhibiting the widest variety of animals native to the state of Alaska. This afternoon, board Norwegian Cruise Line’s exclusive Cruisetrain for the journey from Anchorage to Seward in a single-level glass-domed railcar. During the journey, take in the sprawling views of Alaska’s picturesque glaciers. Upon arrival in Seward, board your cruise ship for a fantastic 7-day Alaska Cruise.

Don’t forget to take a picture of the 1000 lb Kodiak Bear. Or, take the Mount Roberts Aerial Tramway ascending to 1,800’. A restaurant, theater, nature center and retail shops are located at the top of the tramway, as well as a trail up the mountain to a large cross erected by Roman Catholic Father Brown in the early 1900s.
Depart Juneau and cruise Tracy Arm Fjord and its twin Sawyer Glacier. Sailing past Tracy Arm, your ship can cruise within ½ mile of Sawyer, where there are often 100-200 seals on the ice flow.
Day 9: In a single year from 1896 to 1897 this remote town grew from a few tents to a city of 20,000 gold seekers. Today, travelers come in search of other riches—to experience yesteryear along Skagway’s boardwalk lined with buildings that replicate those Gold Rush Days. Choose an excursion to see the Gold Rush Cemetery (Alaska’s Boot Hill) or the Trail of ’98 Museum. Or, board The White Pass Narrow – Gauge Railroad linking Skagway with Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon Territory. The train will climb to an elevation of 3,000’ allowing you to view the routes
that the gold miners used; Chikoot Trail, White Pass Trail and the
