4 YEAR OLD REPORT 3 YEAR OLD REPORT

For the next three weeks we are host ing two pre-service teachers from Monash University, Lena and Li. Catherine, from Vermont Secondary College will be attending as part of her work experience program for the first 5 Tuesdays of this term. Jessica Jones will be start ing as the 4yo teacher on Fridays and will be working alongside Moira and Helen. Please say hello to them all and make them feel welcome.

It has been a good start to our Waste Free Challenge on Tuesday and Wednesday. Only a couple of wrappers! Any wrappers that do come to kinder are being recycled via the RedCycle program. We are also cont inuing to recycle the children's food scraps from lunch boxes via our worm farm and compost bins. We have also been awarded a grant through Bendigo Bank to go towards purchasing a new worm farm, construct ing new garden beds and plant ing more vegetables. Thank you to Claudine Foster, Callan's mum, for putt ing in so much work with our grant applicat ions.

This week the children have been using paper plates to paint on; paint ing faces and patterns and mixing colours. They have also been doing sponge paint ing. These learning experiences were suggested by some of the children during our ideas meetings. Many children have also been pract icing tracing the let ters of their names and the rest of the alphabet on laminated sheets that they wiped clean with a damp sponge. The children have all been drawing their families and added bright ly coloured food dye, some have chosen to display their work at kinder and some have their their work home.

Reminder; families are welcome to join us for the last half hour of the session each Wednesday and Thursday to enjoy Story Time at Eastmont with us. We look forward to seeing you.

Thank you to all the parents who came to the working bee last Sunday and t idied up the outside area for start of term.

If you would like your child's teeth checked and/or to take advantage of the low-cost speech assessments, please return the forms by the due dates. If you have any quest ions speak to Sonya, Moira or Sue.

Sonya SkokDirector

Term 3 has started well and the children seemed very eager and excited to be back at kinder. It has been great to hear about some of the experiences and activities that the children had during the term break.

Thank you to the families who came to the working bee to tidy up and prepare the kinder for the start of the term.

We now have two teddy bears that the children will be able to take for a home visit. The children helped to name the bears Cuddles and Rolley Polley. Every child will have a turn to take a teddy home during term 3 and term 4. Two very excited children each took one teddy home this week and when they bring the teddy back, after the weekend, they will have an opportunity to share their adventures with the group. These home visits help to build the kinder/home connection.

This week the children have been finding and picking up small plastic insects that are hiding amongst shredded paper using tweezers. The children have been building with the life sized foam bricks and because these bricks are soft they can build as high as they like! Playdough, as always, has been popular along with painting, puzzles, pasting, block building and imaginative play in the home corner.

Thank you to the families that have returned the notice regarding goals for the children. The comments and information that you provide helps with future planning.

Parent/teaching sharing sessions will be held later in term 3, but if you have any matters that you would like to discuss please let me know so we can arrange a suitable time to talk.
