A LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This Sunday, the 4th of July, is the 245th anniversary of the birth of our great country. It was on July 4,
1776, that Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, John Hancock, Benjamin Franklin, and other statesmen gathered in
Philadelphia and signed the most important document our na$on's history has ever produced: The Declara$on
of Independence. As we celebrate with family and friends amidst fireworks, parades, picnics, games, etc., let us
allow the most renowned literary lines contained in the Declara$on to ring once again in our ears and sink into
our hearts and minds: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are
endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness.
Let our hearts be filled with gra$tude that we have such a great country upholding equality and God-
given rights as its highest values. This self-evident truth is the principle and founda$on of our American na$on
and is the spirit behind its Cons$tu$on. Let us also renew our vigilance in defending this self-evident truth
against elements in our present day society that strive to undermine the very principles on which the founding
fathers built our republic. It is no secret that the right to life is being violated everyday as evidenced by the
rampant prac$ce of abor$on in demand all over our na$on. Euthanasia and assisted suicide remain very much
a part of American socio-poli$cal life. As people of faith, we hold as our collec$ve conscience the promo$on
and the defense of life at all stages. To follow and prac$ce what our religious conscience tells us is part of our
liberty, enshrined in the Declara$on.
The right to liberty, par$cularly the freedoms of speech and religion, are under assault most recently.
That certain elements in the Government who are in power are the ones perpetra$ng this a&ack through the
Woke Culture and constant allega$ons of systemic racism everywhere, is most unfortunate. Let us pray for our
country that we, as one na$on under God, reaffirm life, liberty, and equality as unalienable rights, as enshrined
in the Declara$on. Our na$on’s founding fathers understood it to mean no individual nor any Government can
arrogate to themselves the power to give or take these rights away. God bless America!

St. Mary Perpetual Adora$on Chapel
Saint Mary Parish is extraordinarily blessed to have a 24/7 perpetual adora$on chapel. This chapel is a&ached to the church next to the sanctuary and is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for you to come and spend some quiet $me in prayer.
Access to the chapel is granted by signing up for a scheduled hour or obtaining the passcode from the parish office.
We are looking for adorers!
Adorers are asked to commit to a weekly hour in the chapel. They are able to select from available shi?s a?er enrolling in our volunteer scheduling program.
Please consider fi&ng an hour into your week to sit and be with Jesus!

THIS WEEK IN THE GARDEN: TOMATO CAGES Your tomato plants are growing taller and a cage should be placed around them. If you have the short three-legged ones, your plants will quickly grow over the top and sprawl across your garden and lawn. We easily made our own that our 5 ?. tall. This will con-tain the plants. We bought a 25?. roll of concrete reinforcing wire with 6 in. squares. Cut a 7 ?. strip and make a loop, hooking the ends. Cut the bo&om wire off, leaving prongs to push into ground. When tomatoes are ripe, just reach through the 6 in. square to harvest.
SHARE THE BOUNTY
A produce-sharing ministry! St. Vincent de Paul Society will begin sponsoring Share the Bounty on July 11. Gardeners, I know this has been a rough season with the heat and drought. Our garden is not producing the abundance of vegetables that it usually does. Therefore, this year we need the help of all of our gardeners to make Share the Bounty a success. If 100 of you each brought a pint bag of something, we would have an overflowing table. Due to the generosity of St. Mary’s parishioners, last year we raised a record $1700. SVDP uses these funds to help the needy in our area. Any produce that is le?-over is taken to the food pantry.
Please help make this year as success-ful. Thank you for your support.

PARA TI DEL PARROCO Este domingo es el 4 de julio, el 245 aniversario del naci-miento de nuestro gran país. Fue el 4 de julio de 1776 que Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, John Hancock, Benja-min Franklin y otros estadistas se reunieron en Filadelfia y firmaron el documento más importante que la historia de nuestra nación haya producido: la Declaración de Inde-pendencia.
