KEY CLUB

Letter From Your Editor

Dear Key Club Members,

I hope everyone is staying cool in this heat! Thanks to everyone who

attended Miles for Mom and the K-Family Picnic. I know it must have been

tough to leave your house of air condition and coolness so thanks a lot guys! I

hope everyone made great connections and new friends. Stay tuned for more

events in August (Page 14)! Summer is coming to an end but not Key Club

events.

On another note, did everyone receive the email regarding the Key Club

Member Information Sheet (MIS)? Please print the pages and fill them out. It is

very important that you hand this form in with your dues in September or

during summer events. Refer to the email or email the board if you have any

questions! We are always here to help.

Articles, articles, where art thou articles? Please submit me articles! Write

about the event you went to, who was there, what you liked, what you didn’t

like, what you did, how you felt, all of these are important! We want to know

how you, the members felt about the event and we want to feature you guys

in our newsletters! So please, feel free to

send me articles at [email protected].

Remember, an article looks best with a

picture!

K– Family Picnic—July 17, 2011

Tech volunteer Amanda Liu

JULY Miles for Moms—July 17, 2011

A few days before the K Family Picnic, I

hadn’t planned on going because the trip

to and from there would have taken me

about 4 hours on the train. However, our Key

Club president Jim and our district editor

Amber convinced me to go. I was glad that

I went! When I arrived at the picnic, I met

other members of Key Club from different

schools and members of Circle K. We played

a few games and at the end there was even

a water balloon fight! From filling up the

water balloons to seeing all of the water

balloons disappear in minutes, it felt amazing

to see how quickly we all became friends

through this picnic and in the end, it was

worth the long train ride home.

Division 9 LTG—HELEN CHEN

Hey Brooklyn Technical

H.S. Key Club!

For those who don’t know

me, I am your Key Club Lieutenant

Governor, Helen Chen! What?

What is a Lieutenant Governor? I

thought Jim Chan was the boss?!

Well, a Lieutenant Governor serves

as a leader and represents a Key

Club division in the New York

District – our division is Division 9! In

addition, a Lieutenant Governor

serves as a liaison between the

district and the clubs – to transfer

all information from the New York

District to Division 9 Key Clubs.

To do so, I publish monthly newsletters and hold monthly divisional meetings; making sure

ALL Key Club officers and members know what is going on within their division and district. I

also make sure all the Division 9 Key Clubs are running perfectly throughout the year; to

lead and guide my Key Club members to build a better home, school, and community.

I was elected as the Lieutenant Governor for Division 9 around late-January 2011.

However, before that, I was a dedicated Key Club member for two years. I joined Key

Club on September 25, 2009. My first day of Key Club was attending Past Lt. Governor

Tiffany Kwong’s September divisional in Midwood High School. Being a new member, I did

not know anything about Key Club. Simply, I thought it was just a club that does

community services. I didn’t know what a divisional meeting was; might as well a

Lieutenant Governor! Nevertheless, my first divisional meeting as a member, serves as a

motivation to keep me dedicated to Key Club. As a regular member, I did not know what

a wonderful organization Key Club was. Once I was elected as the Lieutenant Governor, I

finally realized that there was MORE about Key Club that I never knew about.

KEY CLUB

My term as the Lieutenant Governor only started couple of months ago; however, I

already have a long list of goals and plans for my division. One of my main goals is to

increase communication between the members, officers, and the rest of the K-Family. I

feel that members are secluded within their Key Club. It is important to have them

communicate with rest of the division and the K-Family members because it can show

how Key Club does not fall only within themselves or their club – Key Club goes beyond

that! In addition, the list of future division events can provide more opportunities for my Key

Clubs to continue to serve and change their community.

Remember, Key Club is all year round. Meaning, as a Key Club member, it is your

responsibility to remain active during the summer and the rest of the year. So, look for

some community services,

attend your club and division events, and continue to be a

dedicated member.

Up until this point, I congratulate you because it shows

that you read every single word I wrote. Sorry, you don’t re-

ceive any awards, but at least it shows that you care! At-

tend my divisional meetings, starting from

September! Read my newsletters, and attend division

events! That way, it shows that you’re a proud Key Club

member.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to

contact me!

Yours In Service,

Helen Chen

KEY CLUB

Key Clubber of the Summer What does it mean to be “Key Clubber of the Summer”?

Usually we give out this award each month to a particular key club member who

has made the most impact on our club that month. But instead, this summer we will

award ONE key club member for the months June, July, and August. In order to get

this award you have to attend events, participate, and we want to see someone

who is actively helping and contributing to their community. But we also want to

see someone who is representing Brooklyn Tech, and most importantly, key club.

This member should be the role model for other members.

YOU!

Note from your Bulletin Editor:

Hi key clubbers! This time, fun and games is a crossword

puzzle! Many of you have emailed me about how you should

“submit” your answers to my fun/games. In this case, I

suggest that you print screen it and work on it using paint or

you can just send me the answers next to each number.

Nonetheless, you should all take this great

opportunity to have fun and gain points! If you have a

suggestion for a fun and games, let me know! I am open to

anything but be reasonable and appropriate. Have fun!
