INTRODUCTION

All Nxtar’s Junction Boxes are made of ABS + Polycarbonate material to withstand the harshest outdoor conditions and to meet the customer’s requirements. Using our plug and play design, there is no need for expensive splicer and fusing during installation which saves installation cost and time.

In this manual we illustrate the connections from the Leading Fiber to the Sensing Junction Box, and from the Sensing Fiber to their respective Terminal Junction Boxes. From the step-by-step instructions, the SI or Authorized Installer should be able to perform all the installation for the outfield components.

Step1. Insert a fiber into the port labeled “SF1”. Extra care needs to be taken when inserting the connectors. Never bend the fibers at sharp angels.

Step2. Place branch head in the middle as shown below. Push fiber forward carefully, do not pull branch head lest the fiber is broken when you are pulling.

Step3. Remove the cap of the “SF1” adaptor and prepare for connections.

Step 4. Remove the cap of connector (see the picture below).

Step6. The fiber and cladding plastic are required to be cleaned by alcohol. Wrap sealed tape around the thread head about 2~3 loops(tape length is about 15cm). Use 27mm spanner to tighten the cap in clockwise.

Step5. Connect the connectors “SF1” as follows. The fiber must be tucked gently into the box, no fragments of the fiber should be protruding out of the box. Connector head should not touch any surface or the hands of the installer.

Step7. No fragment of fiber should be protruding out of the box.

Step10. Remove the cap of the “SF2” adaptor and prepare for connections.

Step11. Remove the cap of connector (see the pictures below).

Step12. Connect the connectors “SF2” as follows. Both fibers must be tucked gently into the box, no fragment of any fiber should be protruding out of the box. Connector head should not touch any surface or the hands of the installer.

Step14. No fragment of any fiber should be protruding out of the box.

Step19. Connect the connectors “LF” as follows. The fiber must be tucked gently into the box, no fragment of fiber should be protruding out of the box. Connector head should not touch any surface or the hands of the installer.

Step22. Clean o-ring of the box and seal of upper cover. Cover it finally.

Step24. Take out water resistant tape for next step.

Step23. Tightened the cover with a screw driver or electric screwdriver in

the sequence as shown.

Step26. Entwine the cap and fiber with tape. Overlapping entwine is needed at 2/3 width of the tape. (See pictures below)

Step25. Wrap from bottom of cap and it stretches 2/3 width as original.

Step27. Keep tape and fiber clean. Notice whether dust is on the fiber or not .

Step28. After entwining, the tail of tape must be tightened with the fiber. Make sure the joint is complete tight. Extra care needs to be taken when pressing the fiber. Never bend the fibers at sharp angels.

Junction Box Installation

Cleaning Of Connectors

Use only Kimtech Science KIMWIPES (or similar)And 99% Alcohol to clean all Connectors.

Apply the alcohol onto the Kimwipes and clean the SC/ APC connectors thoroughly.Take note as not to touch the wet part of the Kimwipes with your hand
