short of a miracle! In as little as 45 minutes, for as little as $250, this surgery gives a desperate child not just a new smile but a sec-ond chance at life. El Centro de Ayuda, como lo conocemos hoy, fue fundado en un Monasterio Franciscano, ubicado en Marytown, en 1971. Comenzamos como un pequeño comité llamado CASA (Caring and Sharing Always) y luego hicimos la transición al Centro Latino Americano. Desde 1971 hemos pasado por cambios de ubi-cación y hemos cambiado nuestro nombre una vez más. Este año, celebramos nuestro 50 aniversario, el 28 y 29 de Agosto, y compartiremos datos de nuestro pasado al igual que nueva in-formación sobre lo que está por venir para el Centro y para la comunidad.
The Outreach Center as we know it today was found-ed in a Franciscan Monastery, located at Marytown, in 1971. We started as a small committee called CASA (Caring and Sharing Always) and then transi-tioned to the Latin American Center. Since 1971 we
have gone through location changes and have changed our name yet again. This year as we celebrate our 50th anniversary, on August 28th and 29th, we will be giving you insights from our past and give you new information on what is to come for the Center and for our community!
Volunteer Spotlight: On the right we have Martha Sanchez a wonderful individual who provided assistance to the community through the Outreach Center from 2004-2014. Martha helped many with translations, referrals, and even visited the sick. Martha was part of many outreach events and supported the Alcoholics Anonymous group, we have been very blessed to have her be a part of this organization and we wanted to say thank you!

Have!you!ever!been!in!a!boat!on!Lake!Michigan!when!a!storm!blew!up!suddenly?!!Now!imagine!the!pilot!of!the!boat!(or!the!leader!of!the!excursion)! asleep! while! the! boat! is! being! tossed.! ! Imagine! the!fear.!!Not!too!hard!to!put!yourself!in!the!part!of!the!disciples!in!to-day!s!gospel!passage!from!Mark.!!The!Sea!of!Galilee!is!a!body!of!wa-ter! not! unlike! Lake!Michigan! (though! not! as! large)! in! its! ability! to!whip!up!huge!waves!in!a!wind-driven!storm.!!The!disciples!are!quite!fearful!for!their!lives!and!turn!to!their!leader!for!rescue!-!-!-!and!He!s!sleeping"!!Before!calming!the!storm,!Jesus!scolds!them!for!their!fear!and!lack!of!faith.!!�Why!are!you!afraid?�!!When!Jesus!calmed!the!storm,!the!disciples!were!stunned!by!the!mir-acle! (although! that! was! precisely! the! rescue! they! were! hoping!for).! ! Even! though! they! knew!personally!who! Jesus!was,! they!were!quite!impressed!by!his!power!in!controlling!the!elements.!!The!mira-cle! in! the!passage! is! to!help!reveal!both!the!humanity!and!deity!of!Jesus,! I! think:! humanity! when!
