THE PARTNERSHIP is offering a Teacher Internship Program (TIPs) for Shelby County educators to participate in this summer. There is no cost for you to participate. Our TIPs teachers will be honored at the June Chamber Luncheon.

TIPs allows teachers a three-day experience in the world of business to incorporate into lesson plans for their students. As a business leader, this is your opportunity to strengthen

relationships between the education and business communities.

The Shelby County Legislative Delegation will also speak at the June luncheon.

The June luncheon will be held from 11 am until 1 pm on June 29th at the Pelham Civic Complex. Investment is $17 for Greater Shelby Chamber members, $25 for non-members. RSVP required by Monday, June 27th. The Showcase City Feature will be businesses from Helena and Westover during networking.

Congratulations to May 2011 Ambassador of the Month, Rhett McCreight. Rhett has been an Ambassador for one month and is already an asset to this organization!

Rhett is employed with Business Electronics, a copier sales company that specializes in the Toshiba and Lanier brands.

It’s a locally owned company that has been in the area for more than 20 years. In his free time, Rhett enjoys coaching his nephew’s little league team and spending time with family at the lake.

Alabama Adventure Tickets are at the Chamber!

Alabama Adventure Season and Fun Day Passes are now available for purchase at the Chamber office! Two great parks, one low price. Make plans for the whole family to have loads of fun at Splash Beach Water Park and Magic City USA. Children three and under are free.

Be sure to ride the new ride, Buzzsaw Falls and check out the concert series from June 11 through August 27. Season Passes can be purchased at the Chamber for $50, which includes tax, and/or Fun Day Passes for $24. Get yours while they last!

422nd Annual Golf Classic a Success

Every year the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to hosting an outstanding golf tournament. This, being our 22nd Annual Golf Classic, was not only outstanding ... it was a TEE-TOTAL Success! The weather was beautiful, Timberline Golf Club was a fantastic course, and the day flew by as everyone enjoyed themselves. Congratulations to our 1st place winning team, ITT Technical Institute, and our 2nd place winning team, Lemak Sports Medicine & Orthopedics. Our gratitude goes out to our title sponsors, AT&T, Lemak Sports Medicine & Orthopedics, and the Shelby County Reporter. Thank you to our 2011 Continual Sponsors, members that sponsored the golf tournament, and those that donated door prizes to ensure this year’s tournament would be a huge success. We also appreciate the number of volunteers that donated their time and talents to help us stay organized. We couldn’t have done it without YOU!

LeFleur Florist and Gifts, which celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony, is a member of the Alabama

State Floral Association and affiliated with FTD, Telafloral and 1(800)Flowers.
