The excitement of the Summer Reading Program is set to begin Monday, June 5th at 1 pm. That’s when the Library will host it’s annual SRP Kick-Off Party! Summer Reading Begins!

The excitement of the Summer Reading Program is set to begin Monday, June

5th at 1 pm. That’s when the Library will host it’s annual SRP Kick-Off Party!

This year’s SRP theme is ‘Build a Better World’, and we will feature a wide

range of activities to get you brainstorming, creating, solving, learning and

building. These fun activities, as well as treats and SRP materials, will be

available during the event. Our Kick-Off Party this year is co-sponsored by the

Vermillion Optimists Club.

Summer Story Times

Programs for our youngest readers return this summer with the advent of

the Summer Reading Program - which begins Monday, June 5th. The

return of these programs brings a new session: Sensory Story Time! Led

by Sanford’s Angela Anderson, participants aged 4-6 are welcome to join

in the fun. These new Tuesday/Thursday morning sessions require a

sign-up, as space is limited. The complete Story Time schedule is as

follows:

Movement Story Time (ages birth & up with a caregiver) -

Tuesdays at 10:15 am, in the Kozak Community Room

Art Story Time (ages 4 -6 ) -

Mondays at 5:30 pm and Tuesdays at 11 am, in

the Children’s Activity Room

Sensory Story Time (ages 4 - 6)

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 am, in the

Children’s Activity Room

Freegal at the VPL

Announcing the newest eResource now available to our patrons: Freegal

Music! This is a free music service available to any library patron. All you

need is your library card number to access about 13 million songs,

including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists. In total the collection is

comprised of music from over 40,000+ labels with music that originates in

over 80 countries. Under the terms of the agreement,

registered card holders of the VPL can download three Freegal Music

tracks in the MP3 format each week at no direct cost via

vermillionpubliclibrary.org/ebooks/. The Freegal Music Service will

also have popular music videos for download and a streaming music

option where library cardholders can access entire albums of music.

Books & Brews is Back

Adult Programming

On Wednesday mornings the Chamber’s Vermillion UpNEXT Coffee Hour

gathers in the Kozak Room for fresh coffee, wonderful speakers discussing

interesting topics, and an atmosphere of community networking and

involvement that makes this perfect for anyone! 8-9 am

2nd & 4th Mondays are time for the Vermillion Writers Group to gather. This small,

relaxed group meets to share work, give feedback, and enjoy the company of other

Lutheran Social Services Center for Financial Resources continues to offer

free financial counseling sessions on the 1st Mondays & 3rd Thursdays of

each month. To set up an appointment, call 800-568-2401 or email

We are so pleased to announce that Books & Brews will return on Friday, June 16th at

7 pm. This first event for the season is a chance for us to unveil recent upgrades to the

Library, provided through the Vermillion Public Library Foundation and Friends of the

Library organization. The night will feature refreshments, live music, and a chance to

meet fellow library lovers in celebrating our wonderful library space!

On Friday, June 16th, adults 21 & up are invited to join us for the return of a favorite library

program for adults - Books & Brews! This season’s premier event is intended as a reveal of a

number of wonderful technological upgrades to our library, generously supported by the

Vermillion Public Library

Foundation and Friends of the

Vermillion Public Library.

Participants will enjoy live music, light

refreshments and beverages, and an

engaging social evening while touring

the Library facilities.
