A world where curious kids become hands-on inventors who
discover they're lovingly crafted by God
All kids in Preschool through Grade 4 are invited to join us in Summer Sunday School beginning Sunday, June 4 to September 3 from 10:45-11:30 AM as we look at the Bible through stories and discoveries.
Each Sunday the children will explore deeper into God’s love and purpose for them and they will learn how God has built them all for a purpose. We will investigate: How God Made Us, How God is For Us, How God Loves Us, How God is With Us, and How God Made Us for a Reason.
Teachers are needed each week to lead the classes and to help our children as they investigate God’s Purpose for their Lives. Please prayerfully consider being a teacher this summer. Each week two teachers are needed for the Preschool-Kindergarten Class and the Grades 1-4 Class. A sign up sheet will be available at the church.
We will need a variety of materials for the summer. If you would like to help with the expense, you may do so by placing a donation in the Sunday School offering.
If you have any questions about the program, please contact Sparky at 330-402-3622.

It is not Good-Bye, but Until We Meet Again - - - -
I sit here in the parsonage surrounded by boxes both empty and packed. I have sorted and thrown out stuff. Roger and I are preparing to move into a much smaller home. What stays? What goes? Where do I put it in the new house? Needless-to-say, I have not even touched my office yet. Life is certainly up in the air.
But what I do know, and am not confused about, is that God is calling me again. I was super excited to come to East Fairfield four years ago. Together we journeyed together into new paths of ministry. New classes began, outreach options opened us to the community, and missions took on a different look. There have been ups and downs, twists and turns in our journey, just like every journey. But we did it together. Now God is calling me again to a new appointment.
My new adventure will be to pastor two very small churches. These churches are made up of somewhat older members (and when I say older I could be considered a young person in the church). I will be doing ministry differently than at East Fairfield. Part two of my appointment will be to mentor and coach student pastors and local pastors in the county. My work with the conference on vital congregations is about to get a workout, but I am up for a challenge. I ask for your prayers as I venture out and do the work I have been called to do for our Lord.
What we leave behind are the friendships we have made. This church has become our family and leaving family is bitter sweet. I will not be your pastor anymore but I do remain your friend. What I leave is a church family ready for a new journey of faith with Rev. Deb. She will lead you to new adventures. Some may be easy and some may be challenging, but give it a try. I will not return to do weddings or funerals – Rev Deb will do that for you. But hey, I know where the best ice cream is in Ohio!!
Thank you for being the Body of Christ for Roger and I these past 4 years. Your kindness touched our hearts when we first came and I was grieving the loss of my Mom and then Roger’s Mom the following year. There were the many times you graciously allowed us time together because Roger and I had to live apart. I remember the babies I baptized and the couples I married. Memories created in our hearts - Priceless.
Moving day is June 21. I hope that you can stop by before we leave to share a story, or a hug, or shed a tear or two. If you ever get to the Columbus area, give us a call.
This is not a Good-Bye, but Until We Meet Again.
Rev. Sue and Roger

Joy Circle Eleven Joy Circle met on Monday, April 24 for their last scheduled meeting Before the summer break. Hostesses were Joanie Ready and Kay Crook. Kelli Hephner Had the program and told us about Heroes and Halos and Student Ambassadors.
The business meeting was held and cards sent to those in need of prayer. Sue Kariher reported on prayer blankets. Our 84th blanket is for a 3-year old burn victim. We will donate a prayer blanket to the veteran’s program at the Columbiana County Fair, a Christmas Quilt to the Flat Rock quilt auction, and another baby quilt to the Sophia Women’s Center for their ministry. Three women attended the Spring District Meeting in Poland on April 26. The speaker was Pastor Mary Pryor, who spoke on JOY. She was a joy.
UMW Sunday went well with Edie Boles and Darleen Kotas as speakers. The people receiving a UMW pin were Randy Hart, Nancy Setinsek, and Ruthie Rowley for their work in our music program. The May 4-5 rummage sale went well with a profit of $1,533.40. We decided the money will go towards flooring, paint, and new fixtures in the ladies downstairs restroom.
We are looking forward to our annual Picnic on Wednesday, July 5 at 12:00 noon.

Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or, if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though
you are evil, know who to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!” Matthew 7:9-11 (NIV)
Since we celebrate Father’s Day in June, I’ve been thinking about fathers. First and foremost is our Heavenly Father, our Creator and Sustainer. He loves us with a love deeper than we can even begin to fathom. He is always there for us when we call upon Him.
Next are our earthly fathers. I was blessed to have a Christian earthly father who raised me in the faith. Our earthly fathers love us, teach us about the Lord, and provide for our needs. Sometimes another man is a father-figure for us: a step-father, godfather, uncle, or friend. What a blessing these men are to us.
Lastly, I think about our Founding Fathers, those Christian men who set up the guidelines for our government. I truly believe the founding of our country was the result of the leading of the Lord. If you read the writings of our Founding Fathers, not just about these men but their actual writings, you will see their faith in the Almighty.
As we celebrate Father’s Day, let us remember all of these men.
Things you might pray for:
● Thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father ● Our own fathers, or father-figures ● Our President, who leads our country ● The men who serve in the military and our safety forces ● For spiritual revival in our communities and our country
Blessings to you and your family, - Cindy Ridzon and Sue Kariher

Dear Friends,
The Staff Parish Relations (SPR) Committee has received notification that the Bishop has appointed Rev. Sue Antolik to spread the Good Word at the Williamsport UMC, Harmony Chapel UMC, and to work in the Mid-Ohio District doing Congregational Strategy. Her new appointment is effective June 21, 2017. I would ask for your prayers for Rev. Sue and Roger during this time of transition.
The Bishop has appointed a new pastor, Deborah Beaver-Quillen, to the East Fairfield United Methodist Church. Rev. Quillen comes to us with an extensive background in music and a focus on youth programs and ministries. Rev. Quillen and her husband, Chuck, have two dogs and two cats. They enjoy gardening and prefer cuisine with low or no sugar. I ask for your prayers for the Quillens as they come to our church and community.
We will have a Farewell Lunch for Rev. Sue and Roger on Sunday, June 11 at 12:00 noon to celebrate their ministry here and wish them well in their new appointment. Rob Auer and I will be collecting farewell love offerings for Rev. Sue and Roger as a token of our love and appreciation for all they have done. The lunch will be held outdoors in the pavilion after Sunday School. Hot dogs, dessert, beverage, and table service will be provided. Please bring a covered-dish to share.
On Sunday, July 2, please introduce yourself to Rev. Deb during coffee time downstairs in the fellowship hall. A more formal welcome lunch will be held the following week, with more details later.
Pastoral changes can be anxious times for congregations and for the pastors involved in the changes. For those who may not be familiar with United Methodist Policy, our denomination has followed an itinerant mission strategy since the early days when the Gospel was carried to communities by Circuit Rider preachers. Pastoral appointments have changed over the years, but the church still follows an itinerant appointment policy by changing Pastoral appointments after a period of years, allowing the Bishop to place pastors where their gifts may best serve the United Methodist Conference.
Please be assured that the Bishop and the Cabinet do not make these appointments arbitrarily. It involves much study of the church profile that is prepared by each SPR Committee before appointment candidates are brought to the Bishop and the Cabinet. After names are presented, all of the Cabinet members must agree on the selected candidate before the appointment is recommended. The SPR Committee then has an opportunity to meet and interview the candidate to determine if the appointment will be a good fit for the congregation, before the final appointment is made.
Each pastor that serves East Fairfield United Methodist Church plants seeds of God’s Word, and each successive pastor waters those seeds and helps the congregation grow in their faith and share that faith with others. Please join us in worshiping with Rev. Sue Antolik in the final weeks before she begins her new appointment, and please join us in welcoming Rev. Deb Quillen and hearing the message God has for us through her. - Richard B. Saphore, Lay Leader
