of Wyoming was called to order at 9:15 a.m., June 9th, 1941. The following

The Board then recessed to enter the academic procession and attendCCommencement.

Reconvened at 3:10 p.m.

Mr. Barrett moved that the reading of the minutes of the previous

6eeting be dispensed with. Seconded by Mr. Sill and carried.

Then followed election of Board officers. Mr. Johnson moved that

the rules be suspended and the Secretary be instructed to cast a unanimous J.Uc !'QN~,Ef,~

ballot for the reelection for the coming year of all present officers, 1n-

eluding the Executive Committee. Seconded by Mr. Simpson and carried as

follows:

Mr. Sill moved that a United States flag be purchased to be placed in

the Board of Trustees room. This motion was seconded by Mr. Johnson and

carried.

It was then moved by Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. Johnson and carried

that the following appointments be approved:

Dr. Ray H. Ballard, Director of the Student Health Serviceand University Physician, with the rank of Professor, at a salaryof $4,000.00 per year, effective August 1, 1941.

Mr. S. Glenn Parker, part-time Lecturer in Law, beginning vdththe academic year 1941-42, at a salary of ~360.00 per year.

Mr. Simpson moved approval of the appointment of Mr. Robert R. Becker,

i~nstructor in Violin, at a salary of $2~OOO.OO per year, effective September_I,

1941. This motion was seconded by Mr. Bar~ett and carried.

Mr. Simpson moved approval of the appointment of Mr. Russell E. Gibbs

as Professor of "Mechanical Engineering and Chairman of the Division of

Mechanical "Engineering at a salary of $3,000.00 per year, effective Septem­

ber 1, 1941. In case we are unable to secure the services of Mr. Gibbs

approval was granted for the appointment of Mr. John G. Hoser as Associate

Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Chairman of the Division of Mechan­

ical Engineering at a salary of $3,000.00 per year, effective September 1,

!1941. This motion was seconded by Mr. Ferrall and carried.,

It was then moved by Mr." Barrett, seconded by Mrs. Cope and carried

hat Mr. Hayden Nichols be appointed Assistant Professor in English and

cting University Editor and Director of the University News Service at a

alary of $2,160.00 per year for 12 months service, beginning July 1, 1941.

Mr. Barrett moved that the Executive Committee be empowered to fill

contingent of $150.00 is added to the contingent of the Psychology Depart-

ent. This motion was seconded by Mr. Simpson and carried.

Upon the motion of Mr. Barrett, seconded ~ Mr. Johnson and carried the

following resolution was adopted:

a. That all Deans be employed for twelve months with pro­vision for one month of vacation at a time agreed upon by theadministration and the person involved.

b. That on this basis the Deans of Liberal Arts and Eng_ineering be paid 12/10 of their present salaries and thatDean Sch,viering's salary be fixed at $5,284.00, which is thesame as his present salary including his pay as Director ofthe Summer Session.

c. That the salary of ~r. Hamilton, Acting Dean of theLaw School, be set at $4,500.00, per year on the twelve monthsbasis.

That the present student health fee of $2.00 per studentper quarter be raised 50¢, to $2.50 per quarter. This in orderto make the health service budget self-sustaining, effectivewith the fall quarter of 1941-42.

That in order to purchase and care for gymnasium. suits usedby students the gymnasium fee be increased $1.00 per stuient perquarter, to $2.50 per quarter beginning with the fall quarter of1941.

That tuition credit be abolished and that all students berequired to pay University fees in advance in accordance with therules stated in the catalog.

check for $500.00 from the late Eva V. Dovmey in memory of her daughter,I

"We desire that this money be permanently invested by the Univer­sity and that the interest each year be used to purchase booksof special interest to students of psychology. We request thatsuch books be designated by the head of the department of psy­chology and that they be kept in this department in a special

I library to be known as the June E. Downey library. We shall beglad to furnish book-plates for these books."I .

Upon the motion of Mr. Simpson the Trustees adopted the recommendation

of the Board of Deans that they be authorized to continue the study of thei

etirement problem and that the Trustees appoint one or more Board members
