Dear Spartan Faithful, We just completed our third week of S.P.A. Our athletes are training hard, and vigorously competing with one another. We continue to see new leaders emerge each day, and current leaders improve. We emphasize the importance of consistency in everything we do. Nick Saban says, “The greatest predictors of success in sports and business are consistency and work ethic.” Please emphasize to our student athletes the importance of proper hydration and nutrition. Our athletes are training 2-4 hours each day, and it is a tremendous challenge to stay hydrated and properly recover. To aid with recovery we are once again pleased to offer our summer feeding program so that our athletes can eat for free immediately following our workouts! The thirty minute window following our training is the most critical meal our athletes may have. Our passing league is up and running. Each Tuesday until July 15 th we are hosting a varsity passing league at Bixby from 1-2:30pm. We are joined by Tulsa Washington, Muskogee, Coweta, and Broken Arrow. The OSSAA also allows us two summer 7 on 7 tournaments. We were champions at the 1 st annual East vs. West showdown hosted by Kelley and McGuiness. On July 14 th we will travel to Springdale, AR to the Elite 7 on 7 (Continued on Page 2 June Update) \ Thanks to the efforts of our Quarterback Club, Coaching Staff, and Coach Gilligan, we are excited to present to our parents and athletes the addition of Suspension Training Straps in our weight room. Through the volunteer work of our parents and coaching staff, Coach Gilligan has added suspension training to our programming. These straps have provided an additional tool to help protect and strengthen our athletes shoulders. Thanks to everyone who helps to support our program!

showcase where we will seek to defend our 2016 championship.

At the beginning of the month our team traveled to Mustang for the North Metro Team Camp. As usual the camp was excellent and had some of the best teams on the west side of the state. This year we structured our team differently so we could maximize the number of repetitions our young players received. I was extremely proud of the way our team competed.

After the second day of team camp Mike Stoops and some members of the Oklahoma staff gave us a tour of the new University of Oklahoma facilities. We were very impressed with the upgrades to their facilities. On the third day of camp we took the entire team to Golden Corral. Our coaching staff was proud of the good manners our players demonstrated.

Last week we had numerous NFL veterans on our campus for the Eastern Oklahoma Offensive/ Defensive Line Camp. This year we had nearly 350 campers attend from all over the state. We even had a few competitors from Texas, Colorado, and Arkansas! Several of our linemen won competitions, and garnered awards from the elite camp staff.

We encourage all parents to join the Quarterback Club. Our smallest membership is fifty dollars. If you join all five years you player plays in our program, he will receive a minimum of a $500 scholarship when he graduates. Your support of our QBC moves our program forward by allowing us to provide the best playing experience in the state to our athletes. Just go to www.bixbyqbc.com and you can join online!

Remember, after the 4th of July, things start ramping up quickly. You can go to the schedules page of our website and print an updated calendar with all upcoming events on it.

It is fun watching our team grow and mature. The 2017 season is sure to be an exciting one! Sincerely, Coach Montgomery

Our team recently competed in the 1st annual East West Comet Clash. The event included 16 teams from the East and 16 teams from the West. The first day of the tournament was played at Bishop Kelley in Tulsa and Bishop McGuiness in Oklahoma City. On Sunday the top four teams from each tournament met in Stroud for a championship bracket.

The Spartans went 11-1 on the weekend with a 312-102 point differential! During Sunday’s championship bracket we were a perfect 4-0 to win the championship. We are very proud of our athletes and we took a big step forward as a team.

We would like to thank Coach Tapanna at Bishop Kelley and Coach Jones at McGuiness for organizing such a great event. Hat’s off to Coach Chris Elrick and his staff at Stroud for hosting the Sunday event at their stadium. We were so impressed with the awesome facilities and especially the perfectly manicured natural playing surface that he personally maintains!
