Join a dynamic group of young New Yorkers and experience a legacy of science and discovery.

Junior Council supports the Museum in its mission to discover, interpret, and disseminate – through scientific research and education – knowledge about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe. Membership is open to philanthropists and Museum enthusiasts between the ages of 22 and 45.

Calendar of Events Available to ALL Junior Council MembersJunior Council invites you to the following events; a stimulating mix of science, education, and revelry, these occasions offer an intimate view of the Museum’s collections, exhibitions, and fields of study. Each event presents Junior Council members with the opportunity to enjoy the Museum after-hours, as well as to meet and mingle with Museum scientists, educators, and friends. E-invitations to follow. SciCafe: Exercise and Brain PlasticityJUNE 7, 2017 | 6:30–8 PM Program hosted by Wendy A. Suzuki, Professor of Neural Science and Psychology in the Center for Neural Science at New York University, featuring a lively discussion on the intersection of human brain plasticity and aerobic exercise. This event includes a VIP cocktail reception. Free for Junior Council members. Guests pay $100 in advance or $125 at the door.

Patrons Circle BreakfastJUNE 13, 2017 | 8–10 AM Program featuring continental breakfast and the opportunity to experience the Museum before it opens to the public.

Patrons Circle LuncheonNOVEMBER 2, 2016 | NOON–2 PM Program featuring lunch and a presentation on the Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation, and the important new spaces it will house, extending the Museum’s capacity to educate students, teachers, and the public.

Mounting Casts and FossilsOCTOBER 27, 2016 | 7–8:30 PM Program hosted by David Harvey, Senior Vice President of Exhibition, on preparing and presenting our thrilling new permanent exhibit: a massive mount of a newly discovered 122-foot titanosaur. A cocktail reception will follow. Free for Junior Council members. Guests pay $100 in advance or $125 at the door.

Patrons Circle Science-at-Work ReceptionMARCH 16, 2017 | 7–8:30 PM Program hosted by Ruth Cohen, Senior Director of Education, on BridgeUp: STEM, the Museum’s newest education program, focused on the intersection of computer science and science. A cocktail reception will follow.

Mummies Preview ReceptionMARCH 14, 2017 | 6–7:30 PM The Museum’s spring temporary exhibition gives a rare, up-close look at one of the largest collections of mummies in North America. This event includes an exhibition viewing and a VIP cocktail reception. RSVP via 212-313-7161.

After-Hours in the DomeJANUARY 24, 2017 | 6–7:30 PM Program hosted by Carter Emmart, Director of Astrovisualization, showcasing immersive data visualization in the Hayden Planetarium Space Theater. A cocktail reception will follow. Guests pay $100 in advance or $125 at the door.

¡Cuba! Preview ReceptionNOVEMBER 14, 2016 | 6–7:30 PM The Museum’s fall temporary exhibition will explore Cuban biodiversity, and showcase Cuban culture and life – including art, music, spiritual traditions, celebrations, food, and farming.
