establish the mood and visual character of a film and introduce the viewer to all or some of these elements:

• Characters• Locations• Narrative/Plot• Themes• Visual• Genre

GenreThe genre of Juno is a comedy, Romance and

drama. It would appeal to a wide range of audiences from teenagers to young adults. The opening does not in my opinion give you an idea of what the film is going to be about.

SoundThe opening scene is to the song: "All I Want Is

You" by Barry Louis Polisar it is a very joyful fast pace song and creates a happy atmosphere which draws you into the film.

Characters Ellen Page was photographed with a high speed camera

from different angels walking on a treadmill and drinking SunnyD .900 still images of her walking and drinking were printed out and repeatedly run through a Xerox machine to degrade their quality until the pictures appeared hand drawn. The pictures were cut-out and scanned back onto the computer then layered onto the background drawn with composting software to create a stop motion animation sequence that fits with "All I Want Is You" by Barry Louis Polisar. This is how Ellen page ‘Juno’ is introduced into the film.

Opening creditsThe titlecards were designed to represent each of the

seasons for the film. The credits of the film always must include: Director, Production company, Name of the film, Main Cast, distribution company, casting, costume design, music and songs, co-producers, music supervisors, film editor, producer, director of photography, executive producer and writer.

LocationsThe opening sequence of Juno is filmed of her

walking down a road which is clearly in her own neighbourhood because she is walking down the road very comfortably and like she knows where she is going.
