I hope that you enjoyed the Christmas break and that it was both peaceful and fun! The term ahead is already quite full with lots of exciting events and activities planned! Please see details of forth- coming dates on our school website. Further information regarding the events will follow, but do please make a note in your new diary. Do also keep an eye on your emails - I know we do tend to send quite a lot but we like to keep you informed. On behalf of the staff team, thank you very much for all the lovely gifts, cards and messages of goodwill which we received before Christmas. Your thoughtfulness and generosity were very touching. Finally, I would like to wish you a wonderful 2020! Save the Date - A Musical Celebration Evening Wednesday 1st April at 7.00pm During our Musical Celebration Evening the Year 3/4 choir will be performing Jack and the Beanstalkto family and friends and some of the children who play instruments with our peripatetic music teachers will also be performing. Further details will follow but we thought early notification of the date would be helpful. On a similar note, I am always encouraging children to play at the start of our assemblies - if your child is Grade 1 or above, please ask them to let me know as we would love to hear them share their talent. Just a few reminders about uniform as we start a new term: Trainers and boots are not allowed - only black shoes should be worn. No jewellery (including wrist bands) should be worn other than a simple watch (no Apple watches please) and small studs for pierced ears. Nail polish is not allowed. Hair accessories should be small and discreet please. Large flowers and/or bows are not appropriate for school. Hair should not be shorter than a Number 2. For outdoor PE, children should wear royal blue socks please. This is particularly important for girls who are wearing tights as it is unhygienic to wear these for PE lessons. School tracksuits or dark coloured tracksuits may be worn on top for outdoor PE lessons. Under-armour and running leggings should not be worn. For indoor PE, children need black plimsolls (particularly important this term as the focus for this term is dance). Thank you for your ongoing support in helping to ensure that our children look smart at school. Governing Body Membership Sadly, Simon Harbrow, one of our Community Governors, recently stepped down from the Governing Body due to time constraints. We would like to thank Simon for his support and commitment during his time as a governor and for his assistance in helping, both staff and governors, to prepare for our recent Ofsted inspections. On a happier note, we look forward to Louise Dibsdall and Stuart Fryd joining the Governing Body this term. The Governing Body has also appointed Andy Gilbert (who has a son in Year 4) as a Community Governor. Andy has a background in finance which is an area which the Governing Body is looking to strengthen. We are sure that Louise, Stuart and Andy will all be a great asset to our officially outstandingGoverning Body. Dance in a Day Yesterday, a group of talented dancers from Year 6 took part in a Dance in a Dayworkshop. The children worked throughout the day to create a Chitty Chitty Bang Bangthemed dance which they performed to Years 5 and 6 as well as their parents. Although the day was intense, it was tremendous fun. A huge thank yougoes to Louise Hunt from DOT productions for running the day with such enthusiasm and also to the Teaching Assistants who assisted with supervision and to Miss Carroll who organised the logistics.

Welcome back! I hope that you enjoyed the Christmas break and that it was both peaceful and fun!

The term ahead is already quite full with lots of exciting events and activities planned! Please see details of forth-

coming dates on our school website. Further information regarding the events will follow, but do

please make a note in your new diary. Do also keep an eye on your emails - I know we do tend to send quite a lot but

we like to keep you informed. On behalf of the staff team, thank you very much for all

the lovely gifts, cards and messages of goodwill which we received before Christmas. Your thoughtfulness and

generosity were very touching. Finally, I would like to wish you a wonderful 2020!

Save the Date - A Musical Celebration Evening Wednesday 1st April at 7.00pm

During our Musical Celebration Evening the Year 3/4 choir will be performing ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ to family and

friends and some of the children who play instruments with our peripatetic music teachers will also be performing.

Further details will follow but we thought early notification of the date would be helpful.

On a similar note, I am always encouraging children to play at the start of our assemblies - if your child is Grade 1 or

above, please ask them to let me know as we would love to hear them share their talent.

Just a few reminders about uniform as we start a new term:

Trainers and boots are not allowed - only black shoes should be worn.

School tracksuits or dark

coloured tracksuits may be worn on top for outdoor PE lessons. Under-armour and running leggings should not be worn. For indoor PE, children need black plimsolls (particularly important this term as the focus for this term is dance). Thank you for your ongoing support in helping to ensure

that our children look smart at school.

Governing Body Membership Sadly, Simon Harbrow, one of our Community Governors, recently stepped down from the Governing Body due to time constraints. We would like to thank Simon for his

support and commitment during his time as a governor and for his assistance in helping, both staff and governors, to

prepare for our recent Ofsted inspections. On a happier note, we look forward to Louise Dibsdall and

Stuart Fryd joining the Governing Body this term. The Governing Body has also appointed Andy Gilbert (who has a son in Year 4) as a Community Governor. Andy has

a background in finance which is an area which the Governing Body is looking to strengthen.

We are sure that Louise, Stuart and Andy will all be a great asset to our officially ‘outstanding’ Governing Body.

Dance in a Day Yesterday, a group of talented dancers from Year 6 took part in a ‘Dance in a Day’ workshop. The children worked throughout the day to create a ’Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ themed dance which they performed to Years 5 and 6 as

well as their parents. Although the day was intense, it was tremendous fun. A huge ‘thank you’ goes to Louise Hunt from DOT productions for running the day with such enthusiasm and also to the Teaching Assistants who

assisted with supervision and to Miss Carroll who organised the logistics.
