Areas of the POD

Security Check Point-Everyone entering the campus must stop at this point. This will give security/traffic control staff the opportunity to direct workers to staff parking areas and POD participants to the public parking areas. This will also provide an initial triage opportunity for those who may require handicapped parking and those who may be exhibiting signs/symptoms of illness.

POD Entrance

Entrance-This is where the public will first come to the POD. Greeters will be stationed outside the entrance to the building. This will give another opportunity to triage clients for signs/symptoms of illness. Greeters stationed here include Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) and LPN’s.

Registration, Education and Individual Counseling

Upon entrance, clients will be directed to the PE Gym Room # 165 to Clerks. They will receive a client history form, anthrax fact sheet, labels for medication they must print their names on, clip boards and pens. While in line, materials should be reviewed/completed. Greeters may assist with this process and assess the need for additional Education, Individual Counseling or additional assistance such as translation services or unaccompanied minors.

TriageA Greeter at the entrance to the dispensing area will check the form for completion and direct clients to the next available clinician for triage. MD/CRNP/RPh will triage clients according to the client history form, mark the appropriate dispensing line and determine the medication for EXPRESS clients. Families with children will be sent to FAMILY, clients with a complex medical history will be sent to DUR and anyone needing additional assistance will be sent to SUPPORT SERVICES.
