THE KENNETH & KRISTI BLIZZARD GALLERY — Dodi & John Groesser — Greenville residents, Dodi and John,
began their life together when they met at Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. John, who majored in accounting, and Dodi,
who majored in art education and music, made their home with their sons in Weeping Water, NE, a small town south of
Omaha, before relocating to North Carolina. Dodi first began painting with oil in the tiny kitchen of her paternal
grandmother. She taught art for two years after her marriage to John and taught piano for 32 years. Although she has
worked with a variety of media, she still finds painting with oil to be her medium. Her style is influenced by the
impressionists and finds something to glean from all the professional artists with whom she paints. John’s painting interest
began when he started accompanying Dodi to workshops, and in no time his interest and talents grew rapidly. John paints
in acrylics and loves plein air painting, although he also enjoys painting in the couple’s new studio. He is especially
inspired by the impressionist-style of painting, and enjoys working with big canvases, brushes and palette knives.
John and Dodi have been recognized in several juried exhibitions with placements and honorable mentions and have had
several solo shows locally. These two self-described “happy artists” enjoy painting together and encouraging each other.
Their studio “Painting Purple and Other Colors” is located in Grimesland near their sons and their families.
