    PARENTS INFORMATION SESSIONS

The staff are looking forward to catching up with our families at our parent information sessions

afternoon on Tuesday 9 February. NPS Parent information sessions assist parents in gaining an

understanding as to class and stage expectations, activities, excursions and general workings. This

time is also an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, fellow peer parents and to show your enthusiasm for your

child’s learning. Due to COVID restrictions parents and carers will be required to register via our QR code and complete

a COVID declaration upon entry to the school hall. Parents from Early Stage 1 / Stage 1 – (Kindy, Years 1 and 2) will

meet at 3.15pm. Stage 2 and 3 – (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) will meet at 4.00pm. Children are welcome to attend a play

session in the library while parents are attending information sessions.

    LEADER INDUCTION ASSEMBLY

Our 2021 Leadership Team (Captains, Prefects, Tech Team, Library Monitors, House and Vice Captains and SRC) will

be inducted at a special assembly on Tuesday 9 February. Parents and carers of the students involved will be sent an

invitation to attend the badge presentation. All attendees must complete and return the RSVP on the invitation

including a COVID declaration and on arrival sign in using our QR code and the Service NSW App. Students will have

their official photos on Tuesday morning at school. If you have any queries regarding this event please don’t hesitate

to contact the school on 6889 4566. Your assistance in adhering to these guidelines is appreciated.

    NPS SWIMMING CARNIVAL

Our NPS Swimming Carnival is on Friday 12 February. There is more

detailed information in the sport section of this Kalori. Please remember

that for children to swim in timed races they must be signed off by

parents/carers as strong swimmers - this equates to swimming 50 metres

confidently. This carnival is a great day of team spirit and school fun. If

you are unsure as to your sports house colour, please contact the office.

Remember to wear team colours, bring plenty of drinking water, slip,

slop, slap and bring your largest cheering voices.

COVID INTENSIVE LEARNING SUPPORT TEAM - C19 Team

NSW primary, secondary and specialist schools have been provided supports by the government and department in

the form of a $337 million program aimed at ensuring schools can identify students who would benefit the most from

intensive support. At NPS the C19 program will provide small group tuition for students across K-6. In order to

commence in a timely manner we are focusing Term 1 on students from our NCCD and High Performing Personalised

Learning Plan identified lists, giving teachers time to nominate students who are working towards their 2021

progression markers and stage outcomes for Term 2 and beyond. Parents and carers will be informed of their child’s

participation in the C19 program. This teaching approach will be tailored to individual learning requirements ensuring

that students’ educational outcomes continue to improve in 2021. The NPS C19 teaching team, led by Mrs MacKay

include Mr O Donovan, Mrs Paine and Mrs Robertson.

    COVID 19 PROCESSES AT NPS

Ongoing safety measures remain in place to minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission in our school during Term 1

    2021:

    • Parents and carers are reminded that students must not come to school if they are unwell. Even with very

    mild symptoms.

    • K,1,2 parents and carers have been on site this week to assist with settling our little people back into the

routines of school however this concludes on Friday with all drop offs returning to the school gates from Monday 8

    February.

    • Hand washing, regular COVID cleans, and safety action planning continues to be part of our daily practices.

    • Parents reporting to the Administration Office for supports.

    • Teachers are accessing Mosquito pump sprays to assist with a mozzie infestation in our playground.

    Family Literacy Challenge

Welcome to 2021 and our Family Literacy Challenge. You will need to get a family team together to complete the

challenges. There will be a box in the front office to submit your entries. To collect the prize you need to make sure

you have one name of a family member per entry. For example: The Jones Family- Andrew Jones 4W.

To be in the running for a $10 canteen voucher make sure you get your entry in the box in the foyer at the office. You

have to be in it to win it!

Week 2 – Adjectives. Adjectives are words that tell us more about a noun eg: The big brown dog. Big and brown are

    both adjectives.

Week 2 Challenge. Welcome back from your holidays everyone. Use as many adjectives as possible to describe your

    holidays!

    School Breakfast 4 Health

The students at Narromine Public School will be participating in the School

Breakfast 4 Health Program again this year. One day per week, Foodbank

provides all students from Year 1 to Year 6 with a nutritious breakfast. Students

are still encouraged to have breakfast at home and partake in a small meal at

school, with the main focus being on developing the students’ talking and

listening skills. Each week students have been encouraged to talk about a topic

with their peers. Each topic provides opportunities to develop a variety of skills.

During these conversations, the teachers and support staff actively encourage

appropriate skills such as use of eye contact, use of tone when telling an

interesting story and inflection when asking a question. The program also offers

opportunities for students to develop a rich and broad vocabulary which can

support writing and reading development. The topics which the students will be

encouraged to talk about during the School Breakfast 4 Health Program are

listed. You may like to talk about these topics at home whilst sharing a meal

    together.

Our Family Maths Challenge will be starting in Week 4 so keep an eye out in the next Kalori for the

opportunity to take part in some fun and challenging maths problems as a family.

    NPS Swimming Carnival

The school swimming carnival will be held FRIDAY 12 February. All students are to

come to school first and travel to the pool with the school. Students are

encouraged to come dressed in their sporting house colours. All students in Years

3-6 will attend the swimming carnival as well as participating Year 2 students that

are turning 8 years old this year. Year 2 students turning 8 this year that are not

strong swimmers will not be eligible to race. These students will stay at school and

attend class as per normal. It is important that parents are aware that for students

to enter racing events at the carnival they must have strong swimmer ticked on

their swimming note and they must be in that group for sport as well. If your child

is in Year 3-6 and not a strong swimmer, they will be able to participate in novelty

events in the pool that will be held throughout the day. Students are to bring

swimmers, towel, hat, sunscreen, plenty of water and either a packed lunch or

money for the canteen. Parents who attend to spectate at the carnival will be

required to sign in using the pool QR code. Parents who will be assisting on the

day will sign in with our school QR code and COVID declaration. The

Gobondery/NARRAF swimming carnival will be held on Friday 26 February and the

school. It is expected that students participate every week as sport is a compulsory component of the curriculum. If
