Kampmann presents another cost-effective solution infloor duct heating with the Katherm QX.This is particularly suitable for operation in energy-savinglow temperature ranges.Narrow duct widths of only 175 - 225 mm enable an (almost) unrestricted use of space.

Katherm QXProduct description
Katherm QX – Cross-flow fan convectionwith energy-saving EC motorKatherm QX specifically come into their own when operating at low temperatures in combination with modern heating systems on account of their compact design, energy-saving and extremely quiet fans with ECmotors and high-performance convectors.
FunctionAir is drawn into the fan on the room side and fedthrough the fan that is positioned parallel to the convector. The convector on the window side ensuresthe optimum screening of cold air from the window.The warm air roller thus flows into the room withoutany draughts.
EC technologyEC motors can be operated at a considerably enhancedrange of speeds thanks to their intelligent, integralpower electronics. Low speeds produce very little noise,to a large extent far lower than the auditory thresholdand normal measuring range. People can therefore remain untroubled in living rooms, offices and hotelrooms for much longer. The intelligent motor management continually records the operating statusand maintains the preselected speed at a constant levelregardless of the fan length and external influences.
FansThe cross-flow fans are tailored to specific applications,flow optimised and adjusted in length to the convectors.
Heat outputs The heat outputs were measured and determined in accordance with E DIN EN 16430 "Fan-assisted radiators, convectors and trench convectors," Part 1:Technical specifications and requirements" as well asPart 2 "Test method and rating for thermal output."
Control systemAn electromechnical control option is available either viaa room thermostat or alternatively via the KaControlcontrol system for the continuous variable control of Katherm QX units. KaControl is synonymous with a system solution for maximum energy efficiency, limitless integration options into building automationsystems as well as an extremely user-friendly operatingmethodology.

KaControl – the all-inclusive solution for Katherm QX
Katherm QX with KaControl control units are suppliedcompletely factory-fitted with all electrical parts readyfor connection (excluding optional accessories). Apowerful parameterised microprocessor is designed tocarry out all necessary functions and thus each KathermQX is equipped with its own “intelligence” and can beoperated in groups via Kampmann-T-LAN or CANbusnetworks.
Building automationKatherm QX with KaControl control units can be equipped with plug-in communication interfaces for linking into superior control systems. Each basic unit cantherefore be linked into a technical building network.
Interfaces available: • BACNET• Modbus• LON
Electrical wiringAll electrical cables are connected to a KaControl unit inthe floor duct. In standard units these are only a mainssupply, as well as the bus/communication cables.The installation costs can therefore be kept to a minimum. Each Katherm QX unit is fitted with with anelectrical fuse.
CommissioningEach Katherm QX with a KaControl control unit is suppliedfactory-fitted with a basic program and ready to use withall control parameters pre-set. If required, the parameterscan be accessed via the room control unit (KaController)on-site and changed as needed.When using a communication card it is also possible toset comfort parameters directly on the unit via IT networksor even via a Notebook. Groups of up to six Katherm QXcan be commissioned with automatic addressing.
KaControl control functions for Katherm QXThe parameterisable KaControl control units have a variety of functions:• 5-stage fan controls with a variable automatic function• Automatic setting of the fan speed depending on the
room temperature• Valve controls for 2-pipe systems (heating) for
thermoelectric valve actuators, open/shut, 24 V DC• Timer program integrated into the KaController room
control unit for programming daily and weekly timerfunctions
Automatic functionsThe Katherm QK unit is initially operated with naturalconvection depending on the room temperature that isrecorded.The cross-flow fan with energy-saving EC motor continues to be controlled in this way, if required.

Sound levelsThe respective sound pressure and power levels are indicated in the technical tables (page 18).We recommend that Katherm QX is designed to operate at a medium speed setting taking into consideration the respective sound level.As the sound level is not only influenced by the Katherm QX but also by the acoustic characteristics ofthe room, the actual levels may well differ in practice.
Conversion to other heating medium temperatures and fan speedsIf the designated heating medium temperatures and fanspeeds are not listed in the performance table frompage 24 onwards, they can be converted using the diagrams and calculation formulae on this page.

With a cover plate over theconnection area. Cross flow fan with Kompakt EC motor, robust motor design, variable speed control via an external 0-10 V signal, motor monitoring with internal fault handling, factory-wired ready for connection. With a grille made of double-T profiles as a roll-up or linear design, rod dimensions 18 x 5 mm (stainless steel 18 x 6 mm), rod spacing 12 mm (stainless steel 10.5 mm). Heat outputs tested in accordance with E DIN EN 16430, parts 1 and 2.
