About the Program ProgramMission:TheKaneInternshipProgramseekstoprovideaneducational,developmental,diverse,andenjoyableexperienceforstudents.Wehopetoprovideabeneficialexperiencethatwillallowstudentstheopportunitytoworkunderthesupervisionofexistingstaffandreceivehands-ontrainingthroughvariousprogramsandprojectswithintheNorthHillspropertyandcompanyat-large.Kaneinternshipsgivestudentsopportunitiestogrowwithintheirfieldsofexpertiseaswellasexpandtheirknowledgeintootherfieldsofinterest.

Kaneoffersinternshipseachwinter,spring,summer,andfallinavarietyofdisciplines–seenextpagefordetails.

AssetManagement|Throughthisinternship,onewilllearnthesystematicprocessofdeploying,operating,maintaining,upgrading,anddisposingofassetscost-effectively.Onewillgainexperienceabstractingleases,budgetforecasting,trackingvendorandtenantcertificatesofinsurance,resolvingquestionableinvoices,etc.

BusinessAdministration|Throughthisinternship,onewillgainaholisticunderstandingofhowtooperateamixed-usecommercialfacility.Internwillrotateamongstthreekeyleadersinouroperationsdepartmenttoassistwithavarietyoftasksandprojects.

Development|Throughthisinternship,onewillgainaholisticunderstandingofthedevelopmentprocessaswellasexposuretoworkingwithvendors,contractors,engineers,etc.Onehastheopportunitytointeractwithvariousstakeholderswithinthedevelopmentindustry.Optiontoextendtheinternshipmaybepresentedbaseduponperformance.

Events|Throughthisinternship,onewillgainaholisticunderstandingofhowtoplanandmanagesmall–largescaleevents.OnewillassisttheMidtownEventsstaffwiththelogisticssurroundingtheNorthHillsBeachMusicseries,TributeSeries,WellnessWednesdays,andmore.Onewillalsogainexperiencewithvendorrelations,sponsorfulfillment,branding,andmore.

GraphicDesign|Throughthisinternship,onewilllearnhowtocreateanddesignprintanddigitaldeliverablesforarealMidtownRaleighevent.Thisexposurewillprovideonewithaholisticunderstandingofthecreative/design/productionprocessaswellasashowcasepieceforone’sportfolio.

Marketing|Throughthisinternship,onewillassistthemarketingdepartmentinexecutingitsmarketingstrategyforNorthHills.Onewillgainexperiencewithpromotion,advertising,socialmedia,branding,merchant,andvendorrelations.

Residential|Throughthisinternship,onewillgainaholisticunderstandingoftheresidentialmanagementindustrythroughhands-on,demonstration-basedtraining.Onewillgainexperiencewithbusinessdevelopmentpractices,duediligencerequirements,development/renovation,repositioning/rebranding,anddailyoperations.Onewillgainexposureworkingwithpropertiesofdifferentclassandstatuslevels.

SpecialProjects|Throughthisinternship,onewillassistwithadministrativeneedsaswellasthecoordinationandmanagementofavarietyofprojectsacrossNorthHillsandKaneRealty.Projectsaremainlyfocusedonincreasingthebenefitofthepropertytothecommunity.Onewillgainexperienceworkinginacorporateenvironment,communicatingwithvendors,researchingthefeasibilityofnewideasandmanagingmultipleprojectsatonce.

AssetManagement–BethStewartWithmorethan20yearsexperienceinretailandofficepropertymanagement,Bethprovidesoversightofthemanagementoftheretailproperties,includingallaspectsofday-to-dayoperationsoftheproperty,retailaccounting,budgeting,andthefinancialperformanceoftheproperty.

Development-GregKurucAsadevelopmentmanager,GregisresponsiblefortheunderwritingandfinancingofKane’snewdevelopments,acquisitionsanddispositioneffort,whileusheringprojectsthroughthedesignandconstructionphases.PriortoKane,GregspentfouryearswiththeRaleighbased,BoylanDevelopmentCompany.GregholdsabusinessmanagementandaccountingdegreefromNorthCarolinaStateUniversity.

Events–AshleyStallingsAstheEventsandCommunityRelationsManagerforMidtownEvents,AshleyhelpsplanandproduceeventsforNorthHillsincludingtheMidtownBeachMusicSeries,MidtownBluegrassSeries,FridayNightTributesSeries,andmoretotalingover325eventsperyear.ShealsooverseescommunityrelationsthroughwhichsherepresentsMidtownEventsandKaneatvariouseventsthroughoutthecommunity.

BusinessAdministration–HerbUbbensHerbhasmorethan20yearsintheretail,residential,andpropertymanagementindustries.Asthedirectorofoperations,Herboverseesthemaintenance,publicsafety,andcustodialdepartments.Hisfocus,throughouthis15yearsatKanehasbeenonriskmanagement,operationalbudgets,OSHAcompliance,Fire,LifeSafetyandEmergencymanagement,andpreventativemaintenanceandsustainabilityprograms.

Marketing–PatriceBetheaPatriceoverseescommunication,socialmedia,relationshipmanagement,andpromotionforNorthHillsasRaleigh’shotspotforshopping,dining,andentertaining.PatricehasbeenwithKaneRealtyCorporationsince2007.ShecurrentlysitsontheBoardofDirectorsfortheGreaterRaleighMerchantsAssociation,ShopLocalRaleigh,andvolunteerswithFriendsofWakeMed.

Residential–NicolePetroffNicoleoverseesmarkingandbrandingstrategiesforKaneResidentialandthemultifamilyportfolio.Thisincludesthemanagementofcollateralprojects,publicandmediarelations,SEOandreputationmanagement,advertisingcampaigns,digitalmarketing,andsocialmediastrategies.SheholdsadegreefromtheUniversityofMiami’sCollegeofArtsandSciences.

SpecialProjects–LaurenDickensLaurenoverseestheplanningandexecutionforspecialprojectspertainingtoNorthHillsandKaneRealtyCorporation.Inaddition,shemanagesamultitudeofinternalprogramsatKaneincludingtheinternshipprogram,employeeperformancereviewprogramandcollateraldevelopment.ShealsoistheassistantfortheGeneralManagerofNorthHills,BonnerGaylord.
