In addition to her position at McGraw-Hill, Mrs. Orfitelli also writes feature articles for several magazines. Her articles have been published nearly 300 times in more than 100 publications. Mrs. Orfitelli’s experience with children spans more than 30 years. Besides teaching literature, language arts, and writing to middle school students, she has also designed and implemented reading and writing programs. Ms. Orfitelli’s first article, Searching for Safety (Standard), was published in 1992. That acceptance was followed by hundreds more in magazines such as Focus on the Family (October, 1995, May, 1999), Breakaway , (1995) Brio , (1994), Teen (1995), Writers Digest (1997), The Plain Truth (April 1999, June 2000), Clarity (October 1999 and January 2000), Vietnam (April 2000), and Guideposts (October 1999 and November 1999). She also spent several years reviewing children’s books for The Christian Library Journal and Librarian’s World . A graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a degree in English and Education, Mrs. Orfitelli attended graduate school at the University of Connecticut. She has earned professional teaching credentials from the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Virginia and Florida. Mrs. Orfitelli held an editorial research position on The Public Perspective, a political science journal of The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research at the University of Connecticut. Mrs. Orfitelli has been the recipient of numerous local, regional, and national awards, including the Guideposts Writers Workshop Contest (1994). Regionally, she was the first place winner in the Great New England Coast Essay (1996). Mrs. Orfitelli was named to Who’s Who in American Teachers in 1992 and 1994. Karen Orfitelli is an editor for McGraw-Hill Publishers where she creates and edits educational materials for children and teachers. In addition to her position at McGraw-Hill, Mrs. Orfitelli also writes feature articles for several magazines. Her articles have been published nearly 300 times in more than 100 publications.
