STUDIO POLICIES AND NEWS

ABSENCES – Attendance is very important and instrumental to the development

of your child’s skills. If you are not able to attend we ask you to please call the

office to report his/her absence. There are no refunds for missed classes.

TUITION DUE DATE – Tuition is always due the first class of the month. A

10% late fee will be applied to all tuition on the 16th. There are no deductions or

credits for missed classes. Withdrawals must be made before the first class of each

month or you will be billed for the entire month.

OBSERVATION – Observation is the last class of this month. We will also have

observation the last week of May. Parents are welcome to sit and observe the

class. Please remember you are in a learning environment and we must keep noise

to a minimum. Please turn off cell phones.

EASTER VACATION –We will be closed Thursday, March 28—Tuesday, April

2. Classes will resume on Wednesday, April 3. Monday classes will be held on

Tuesday, April 2nd so that the Monday classes get four weeks of classes in April.

CREDIT CARD PROCESSING—We are now able to process MasterCard,

Visa, and Discover cards for payments of tuition, costumes, team fees, etc.

FACEBOOK—If you are on Facebook, Kathi’s Dance & Gym Center does have

a group you may want to join. It’s a great way to touch base, ask questions, and

post any fun things you want about or for our dancers and gymnasts.

SHOW NEWS

DANCE SHOW “Beauty and the Beast” plans are underway. The show will

be held at Powers’ Auditorium on June 12th and 13th.

This is a change in dates due to scheduling conflicts at

Powers Auditorium. Please make sure we have your dance

show form in the office with your costume deposits IMME-

DIATELY. We are currently measuring for costumes and it

is imperative we know who will be participating. We must

receive a costume deposit in order for your costumes to be

ordered. No costumes will be ordered without a deposit. RE-

MEMBER – we still need the form returned, even if you are

not participating in the show.

GYM SHOW

Costumes have been ordered and are in the process of be-

ing made. This year for the gym show, there will be tickets

sold in advance with seat numbers. This should help out a

lot. Start talking to your family to see who wants to come

to the show. As soon as we have a ticket sale date lined up

we will let you know. It will be in sometime in April.

RAFFLE TICKET FUNDRAISER – If you have signed up for the dance

show in June you will be receiving raffle tickets along with your newsletter. This

fundraiser is very important to the studio enabling it to afford Powers Auditorium for

our show. The tickets are $5.00 and a ticket will be drawn each day (except Sun-

days) in April. Multiple winners are a possibility. If your ticket is drawn Monday

thru Friday you will receive $25 and a Saturday drawing is worth $50.00. Please

help support this fundraiser.

COSTUME DEPOSITS – If you have not yet paid your dance show costume deposits or turned

in your dance show sign up form, please due so immediately. We will not order costumes unless we

have received a costume deposit from you. If you are not participating in the June show, please still

take the time to fill out a form to let the office know.

CECCHETTI OHIO BALLET DAY On Sunday, February 10th, KDGC hosted Cecchetti Ohio Ballet Day. We had several girls receive scholarships that day. Alyssa Swank was awarded 2nd place of the Cecchetti Grade V & VI scholarship audition and received paid tuition to Cecchetti Summer Intensive program at Hope College in Michigan. McKala Lehman received 2nd place in the Cecchetti Grade III & IV scholarship audition and also received paid tuition to the two week summer in-tensive program at Hope College. We had three of our graduating senior participate in the Cecchetti Council of Ohio’s College Scholarship process. Katie Rubesa placed 1st and re-ceived a $1,000 college scholarship. Jacquelyn Oddo placed 3rd and Sarah Ahlswede placed 5th and they both received a $250.00 college scholarship. Congratulations to all of the girls.

DANCE and Gym SHOW

PROGRAM ADS

At the back of this newsletter you will find a

program ad order form. This form may be

used to place an ad in the dance show or gym

show program. By accepting ads, we are able

to distribute these programs at the shows

without charging for them. You may place

personal ads or solicit ads from local busi-

nesses. Every dance line member is required

to submit one ad for the dance show program

and competitive members are to submit one

ad to gym show program to help defray the

cost of pictures in the program. If a line

member does not submit an ad, they will be

charged a picture assessment. Check for due

dates on the form at the back of newsletter.

KLINKE SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE

PEGGY KLINKE SCHOLARSHIP

The Peggy Klinke Scholarship will be awarded at

this year’s dance show in June. It is a $500.00

scholarship to a summer dance workshop of your

choice and it is given in memory of Peggy, one of

our former dancers, who was fatally assaulted.

The requirements are as follows:

At least 11 years of age

Submit a 1 ½ minute video in a dance disci-

pline of your choice

Submit a 500-word essay, typed, doubled-

spaced and titled “How Dance has Influenced

my Life”

Please submit video and essay no later than

April 1st.

STUDIO UPDATE

All tap line members will soon be receiving their fliers about the Mark Goodman workshops on April30 & May 1. These classes are manda-tory for all tap line members. Please mark these dates on your calen-dar now. Company tappers will be learning their choreography for the dance show at this time as well. All company tappers should talk to Kathi about scheduling your privates now as well.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT KATIE RUBESA—Katie is a member of the class of 2013 of Poland Seminary High School. Katie is involved in many school activities, such as Spanish Club, Leadership, and National Honors Society. She has been cheering for over 10 years, and is a member of the varsity cheerleading squad at her school. Katie has managed to maintain a 3.9 grade point average throughout her high school career. She plans to study nursing at Ohio University to eventually become a pediatric nurse practitioner. Katie hopes to con-tinue dancing throughout college and in the future. She wishes everyone good luck this year, especially her fellow seniors. Katie is thankful for the memories and life lessons she has learned at Kathi’s, and will be forever grateful for her time spent here.

MARK GOODMAN TAP WORKSHOP

2012-13 SPLIT CLUB Over the last couple months we have really tried to update our split club list so that

we could accurately post it in our newsletter. To be a member of split club, a dancer or gym-

nast must have all three of her splits: right, left, and straddle. The following list of girls cur-rently have all three splits!! New members have an asterisk by their name. If you feel we

ZUMBA CHANGE

The Saturday ZUMBA Class will now be at 2:30—3:00 p.m. beginning Satur-

day,

Ohio Dance Masters Junior Members We have a group of dancers that are Junior Members of the Ohio Dance Masters

Organization of which Kathi is a very dedicated member. For the March conven-

tion, the girls are making Chinese Auction baskets to raise

money for Dancing Wheels, a non-profit organization of

young men and women who dance in wheel chairs. We

thought if anyone would like to donate a scratch off lottery

ticket or an item from Victoria’s Secret for the two baskets our

girls are creating, that would be awesome. These items need

to be turned in by Wednesday, March 13th at the office.

ST. JUDE’S CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL FUNDRAISER On Sunday, March 10th at 3:00 p.m., Jami Byler will be holding a ZUMBA class in

Studio A, to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. This is the third year

Jami has done this fundraiser. Last year $700.00 was raised and donated. The minimum dona-

tion to take the class is $6.00. Please come out and support this great cause if you are available

that Friday. Hope to see you there.

ATTENTION ALL LINE DANCERS Remember there is a mandatory $50.00

fundraising assessment to all line dancers to

help defray the cost of Powers Auditorium.

This can be generated through any fundrais-

ers (ex. Gorant’s candies, raffle tickets, etc.)

or paid directly to the office.

GYM SHOW PROP HELP We are looking for some items for the gym show that we are hoping our

families can help us out with. If you have any Little Tikes or similar chil-

dren’s household items (iron, ironing board, vacuum, kitchen, furniture) that

we could use that would help with scenery a lot. Also we are looking for

youth large suit coats in blues or grays. If you have any of these items and

are willing to let us use them, please

bring them in with your name on the

item somewhere. We want to be able to

get it back to you easily.
