Why is it needed?

Many people cannot obtain loans from banks because they have no assets to secure a loan against

Who cannot get a bank loan?

Often people renting property, lone parents, people with a disability or managing a long term illness, ex-offenders or people with a poor or no credit history

Page 22: Kcf deal funding fair march 2013

How much money does it lend?

An average loan is £4,000 but we can lend up to £10,000 for a start-up business

Is it only for start-up businesses?

No. We will lend to existing businesses where it can be demonstrated that a loan will create new jobs or save existing ones

Page 23: Kcf deal funding fair march 2013

How does it work?

A paid employee of Fredericks Foundation assesses applicants and helps the best ones to put together as robust a business case as possible

Who takes the decisions?

The lending decisions are taken by a small panel of volunteer professionals who have knowledge of the local area. The panel will include at least one entrepreneur plus an accountant or a banker
