While summer 2020 at Gods Mountain is over, in many ways it feels like it never started. It was certainly the most unusual summer weve ever had, but weve seen the Lord use camp in new and exciting ways. One of the ways we were able to use camp this summer s by having day-long events for small groups of young people. We did work around camp, enjoyed fellowship and games, and did a devotion and small groups all while staying outside, which made everyone most comfortable. We are thankful to the Lord for providing wisdom, great weather and eager young people to make these days happen! Another awesome part of the spring and summer has been Johnny using camp on Monday nights for a fellowship time for men from his church and around the area. This has been a great time of encouragement to believers as well as an outreach. Below are some other examples of the ways God has used camp this summer. We cant wait to have campers again, but we are thankful for all the ministry that happened at and through camp! Another special moment from this summer happened when Johnny met a young man named John who was riding a bicycle from Pittsburgh to Denver to start a new job. Since he was dealing with a bike repair and a sore knee, we offered him a place to stay, and the next day Johnny drove him further south toward his destination, having many spiritual conversations on the way. Since camp was quiet this summer , we were able to provide housing for various people. One of those was an Army Officer named Ryan, who needed a place to stay while awaiting transfer to another base. Ryan stayed busy at camp, helping out with mowing and working on a car. He also was able to collect dozens of bags of second-hand clothing that thrift stores were unable to take. Ryan washed and sorted all the clothes (so much that it kept the washer and dryer running all day for nearly a week!) then delivered them to shelters around the area that could use them. We are thankful to be able to serve Ryan, and that he was able to serve others while he was here! Another awesome way camp was used this summer is providing housing for a few different groups of Missouri Baptist Convention Disaster Relief volunteers. As you may know, a neighborhood near camp experienced devastating flooding this summer. Many volunteers were needed to help with the process of clearing and cleaning so they could begin the process of repairing and rebuilding. It was our pleasure to provide a place for them to stay. The fall and winter season will look a lile different than usual, but we look forward to welcoming churches and ministry groups for all kinds of events at camp. Please connue to pray with us for safety and health for all who visit, and effecve ministry. We connue to depend on your prayers and giving for the upkeep of camp. Thank you for partnering with us! While summer 2020 at God’s Mountain is over, in

many ways it feels like it never started. It was certainly

the most unusual summer we’ve ever had, but we’ve

seen the Lord use camp in new and exciting ways.

One of the ways we were able to use camp this summer

s by having day-long events for small groups of young

people. We did work around camp, enjoyed fellowship

and games, and did a devotion and small groups all

while staying outside, which made everyone most

comfortable. We are thankful to the Lord for providing

wisdom, great weather and eager young people to

make these days happen!

Another awesome part of the spring and summer has

been Johnny using camp on Monday nights for a

fellowship time for men from his church and around the area. This has been a

great time of encouragement to believers as well as an outreach.

Below are some other examples of the ways God has used camp this summer. We

can’t wait to have campers again, but we are thankful for all the ministry that

happened at and through camp!

Another special moment from

this summer happened when

Johnny met a young man named

John who was riding a bicycle from Pittsburgh to

Denver to start a new job. Since he was dealing

with a bike repair and a sore knee, we offered

him a place to stay, and the next day Johnny

drove him further south toward his destination,

having many spiritual conversations on the way.

Since camp was quiet this summer, we

In the midst of a very unusual summer, we were incredibly blessed to have 4 interns willing to spend

their time at camp. They worked on projects, upkeep and cleaning around camp, organized our day

events with young leaders, reached out to and spent time with young people throughout the area, and

more. One of the big focuses of our summer was to stay connected to the young people who were plan-

ning on serving and spending many weeks at camp, and the interns were a huge part of making that hap-

pen! Below is a brief word from each of them about their experience. Please join us in praying that the

Lord would continue to clearly guide their steps.

I think we can all say that this

has been the strangest camp

year ever — but “strange” or

inconvenient never means

that God stops working. It was

a blessing just to be at camp

and enjoy fellowship as well as help with

various tasks around camp. A big bless-

ing was getting to reconnect with a few

people from last year’s teen summer staff

and continue to build those relationships.

Although I’m sad summer has drawn to a

close, I want to look at this as a launch-

ing pad into ministering to these people

throughout the year and helping them

grow in their walk with Christ.

-Silas Rinehart, leader at camp since

2014. Intern in 2019 & 2020.

It has been such an encourage-

ment to spend time at camp with

the interns and the teen staff this

summer. The Lord has been teach-

ing me through this summer that

nothing can thwart his work.

Even when it feels like the world is upside

down, HE is just as active in the lives of people

as He is when things feel normal. Like Paul

says in Philippians 1, “What has happened to

me has really served to advance the gospel.” So

anything that happens in my life is an oppor-

tunity to point to the truth of the gospel: that I

need Jesus, and true joy is found only in Him.

- Anna Clements, leader at camp since 2015.

Intern in 2019 & 2020.

It was through the last few weeks

on the Mountain that the Lord

drew me closer to Himself. My en-

tire life He was the God of the Bi-

ble, the hero who deserved all of

the glory. What I didn’t expect is that He wants

to be my best friend. My first love. The one I cry

out to in my worst moments and the first person

I can share all of my happy dances with. He nev-

er ceases to be kind to me when I am hurting, or

gentle with me when I question Him. After

months of pain and confusion during quarantine,

God was and will continue to be the same. He is

consistent and faithful. Truly the best. The God

who is in control...not just because He is God, but

because His will and desires for us will always

be built on His incredible love for us.

–Emily Salinas, camper & leader at camp since 2010.

Intern in 2020.

How is God’s Mountain Financed? The ministry of God ’s Mountain continues only because of friends like you who feel called to give financially. All gifts made payable to God’s Mountain, whether designated for general funds or for a staff member, are 100% tax deductible. Perhaps today God has shown you that

you need to be involved in this ministry through your financial giving as well as your prayer support. Remember, your gift will count for all eternity!

Make checks payable to God’s Mountain Camp and send to:

God’s Mountain Camp, c/o Clark & Susan Heckman

If your gift is for a specific staff member, please mark that on your envelope or on a note inside, NOT on

the check!

This has been my third summer serving

at God’s Mountain in some form. This

year looked far different for us here at

camp than we had first anticipated. But

more than anything else, I have been

learning that I should not place a limit

on God or what He can do. We haven’t been able

to “have camp” like we normally do, but the chance

to have smaller groups of teens come to camp and

invest in them has led to much growth and good

for the Kingdom. Even if how we first envision

things will play out isn't what happens - that does

not stop Him from transforming lives, knitting peo-

ple together in community and making Himself

known through everything we do.

-Amanda Wesselmann, leader at camp since 2018.

Intern in 2019 & 2020.
