The 325D MH structural componentsare the backbone of the machine’sdurability and provide for excellentstability. pg. 7

Fixed Cab Riser. CAT® designed andbuilt, 6’5” (1.95 m) manual tilt cab riserprovides for operating height withexcellent visibility for loading andunloading processing equipment, trucks,and rail cars. Access to the cab isprovided by a ladder leading up to theplatform extending around the cab riser.This platform will allow for windshieldcleaning. The cab riser can be manuallytilted forward 90 degrees for shipping.

Hydraulic Cab Riser. Optional hydrauliccab riser provides up to 8’6” (2.6 m) ofadditional operating height. There iseasy access to the cab platformprovided by handrails attached to theriser.

Operator Controls. The ability tomodulate the grapple open-closefunction is also provided on the rightside joystick. The rotate function ismodulated by using a slider switchmounted on the joystick.

Cooling System. External debris filtersallow easy access for cleaning. Thisprevents clogging from dirt and dustcoming into the cooling system. Theoptional automatic reversing fan purgesdirt and dust from cooling system.

Generator Set. An optional 20 kWgenerator set can power magnets up to66” (1.68 m) in diameter.

The CAT® Two-Piece Front Linkage.Offers a maximum horizontal reach of50’11” (15.5 m) from swing center andmaximum vertical height of 53’11”(16.4 m). It is an excellent match for a.75 yd3 (.57 cubic meter) Orange PeelGrapple or a 57” (1.45 m) WalkerMagnet.

The optional 46’4” (14.1 m) two-piecefront linkage has a maximum verticalreach of 49’6” (15.1 m) and is anexcellent match for a 1.25 yd3 (0.96cubic meter) Orange Peel Grapple orthe 66” (1.68m ) Walker magnet.

Booms and Sticks. Designed and builtfor performance and long service life.

Welded Box-Section Structures.Efficiently designed with thick,multiplate fabrications in high stressareas, which allows structures to flex,dissipating stress and maximizingstrength.

Stress Relieving Booms and Sticks.Maximize strength and minimizesstructure weight.

Dual Stick Cylinders. Provides excellentgeometry for working close to themachine or at full reach.

325D MH Two-Piece Caterpillar Front LinkageCaterpillar 325D Material Handler fronts are purpose designed and built for excellentreach, flexibility, and lift performance to meet all requirements of material handlingapplications.

CAT® C7 ACERT™. The CAT® C7 withACERT™ Technology worksintroduces a series of evolutionary,incremental improvements that providebreakthrough engine technology. Thebuilding blocks of ACERT™Technology are fuel delivery, airmanagement, and electronic control.ACERT™ Technology optimizesengine performance while meeting U.S.EPA Tier 3 engine emissionsregulations.

Performance. The 325D MH, equippedwith the C7 engine with ACERT™Technology, provides 12% morehorsepower as compared to the 3126BATAAC HEUI in the 325C MH.

Automatic Engine Control SpeedControl. The two-stage, one-touchcontrol maximizes fuel efficiency andreduces sound levels.

ADEM™ A4 Engine Controller .ADEM™ A4 electronic control modulemanages fuel delivery to get bestperformance per liter of fuel used. Theengine management system providesflexible fuel mapping, allowing theengine to respond quickly to varyingapplication needs. It tracks engine andmachine conditions while keeping theengine operating at peak efficiency.

Electronic Control Module. TheElectronic Control Module (ECM)works as the “brain” of the engine’scontrol system, responding quickly tooperating variables to maximum engineefficiency. Fully integrated withsensors in the engine’s fuel, air, coolant,and exhaust systems, the ECM storesand relays information on conditionssuch as RPM, fuel consumption, anddiagnostic information.

Fuel Delivery. The CAT® C7 featureselectronic controls that govern the fuelinjection system. Multiple injectionfuel delivery involves a high degree ofprecision.

Air Cleaner. The radial seal air filterfeatures a double-layered filter core formore efficient filtration and is located ina compartment behind the cab. Awarning is displayed on the monitorwhen dust accumulated above the presetlevel.

Noise Reduction Technologies. Theengine mounts are rubber-isolatingmounts matched with the enginepackage. Further noise reduction hasbeen achieved through design changesto the isolated top cover, oil pan,multiple injection strategy, insulatedtiming cover, sculpted crankcase andgear train refinements.

High, Square Undercarriage. Providesexcellent over-the-side stability requiredto handle heavy loads and improveproductivity.

Excellent ground clearance provided toclear obstacles.

Longer track roller frames increaseover-the-front stability. Stands up inthe toughest applications.

Modified X-shaped, box sectioncarbody provides excellent resistance totorsional bending. Upper structureweight and stresses are distributedevenly across the full length of theroller track frame.

Heavy Duty Upper Frame. The upperframe is specifically designed for thescrap and material handlingapplications. It is built of higherstrength material and thicker steelsections to handle increased swing loadsfrom the longer front and heaviercounterweights used in materialhandling.

StructuresThe 325D MH structural components are the backbone of the machine’s durability andprovide for excellent stability.

Work Tool Selection. When choosing awork tool, please consider the work toolapplication, the variation of the densityof material to be handled andproductivity requirements. Check withyour CAT® dealer for more details onspecifications, sizes, and other worktool types.

Walker Magnets. The Walker 57” (1.45m) or 66” (1.68 m) Lift Master magnetscan be used with the 325D MH. Thesemagnets have been designed andengineered for scrap processingapplications. Ask your dealersalesperson for information on theWalker Magnet.

Orange Peel Grapples. The .75 yd3 andthe 1.25 yd3 Orange Peel Grapples areavailable attachments.

Work Tools - AttachmentsA variety of grapples and magnets are available to maximize machine performance inmaterial handling applications.

Ground Level Service. The design andlayout of the 325D MH was made withthe service technician in mind. Manyservice locations are easily accessible atground level allowing criticalmaintenance to get done quickly andefficiently.

Pump Compartment. A service door onthe right side of the upper structureallows ground-level access to the pumpand pilot filter.

Radiator Compartment. The left rearservice door allows easy access to theengine radiator, oil cooler and air-to-air-after-cooler. A reserve tank and draincock are attached to the radiator forsimplified maintenance.

Air Filter Compartment. The air filterfeatures a double-element constructionfor superior cleaning efficiency. Whenthe air cleaner plugs, a warning isdisplayed on the monitor screen insidethe cab.

Capsule Filter. The hydraulic returnfilter, a capsule filter, is situated outsidethe hydraulic tank. This filter preventscontaminants from entering the systemwhen hydraulic oil is changed andkeeps the operation clean.

Fan Guard. Engine radiator fan iscompletely enclosed by fine wire mesh,reducing the risk of an accident.

Diagnostic and Monitoring. The 325DMH is equipped with S•O•SSM samplingports and hydraulic test ports for thehydraulic system, engine oil, and forcoolant. A test connection for theCAT® Electronic Technician (CAT® ET)service tool is located in the cab.

Extended Service Interval. The 325DMH service and maintenance intervalshave been extended to reduce machineservice time and increase machineavailability
