The 325D MH structural componentsare the backbone of the machine’sdurability and provide for excellentstability. pg. 7

Fixed Cab Riser. Cat® designed andbuilt, 6'5" (1.95 m) manual tilt cab riserprovides for operating height withexcellent visibility for loading andunloading processing equipment, trucks,and rail cars. Access to the cab isprovided by a ladder leading up to theplatform extending around the cab riser.This platform will allow for windshieldcleaning. The cab riser can be manuallytilted forward 90 degrees for shipping.

Hydraulic Cab Riser. Optional hydrauliccab riser provides up to 8'6" (2.6 m)of additional operating height. There iseasy access to the cab platform providedby handrails attached to the riser.

Operator Controls. The ability tomodulate the grapple open-closefunction is also provided on the rightside joystick. The rotate function ismodulated by using a slider switchmounted on the joystick.

Cooling System. External debris filtersallow easy access for cleaning.This prevents clogging from dirt anddust coming into the cooling system.The optional automatic reversing fanpurges dirt and dust from cooling system.

Generator Set. An optional 20 kWgenerator set can power magnetsup to 66" (1.68 m) in diameter.

The Cat® Two-Piece Front Linkage.Offers a maximum horizontal reach of50'11" (15.5 m) from swing center andmaximum vertical height of 53'11"(16.4 m). It is an excellent match for a0.75 yd3 (0.57 cubic meter) Orange PeelGrapple or a 57" (1.45 m) Walker Magnet.

The optional 46'4" (14.1 m) two-piecefront linkage has a maximum verticalheight of 49'11" (15.2 m) and is anexcellent match for a 1.25 yd3

(0.96 cubic meter) Orange Peel Grappleor the 66" (1.68 m) Walker magnet.

Booms and Sticks. Designed and builtfor performance and long service life.

Welded Box-Section Structures.Efficiently designed with thick, multi-platefabrications in high stress areas, whichallows structures to flex, dissipatingstress and maximizing strength.

Stress Relieving Booms and Sticks.Maximize strength and minimizesstructure weight.

325D MH Two-Piece Caterpillar Front LinkageCaterpillar 325D Material Handler fronts are purpose designed and built for excellentreach, flexibility, and lift performance to meet all requirements of material handlingapplications.

Cat® C7 ACERT™. The Cat® C7 withACERT™ Technology introduces aseries of evolutionary, incrementalimprovements that provide breakthroughengine technology. The building blocksof ACERT™ Technology are fueldelivery, air management, and electroniccontrol. ACERT™ Technology optimizesengine performance while meetingU.S. EPA Tier 3 engine emissionsregulations.

Performance. The 325D MH, equippedwith the C7 engine with ACERT™Technology, provides 12% morehorsepower as compared to the 3126BATAAC HEUI in the 325C MH.

Automatic Engine Control SpeedControl. The two-stage, one-touchcontrol maximizes fuel efficiencyand reduces sound levels.

ADEM™ A4 Engine Controller.ADEM™ A4 electronic control modulemanages fuel delivery to get bestperformance per gallon of fuel used.The engine management system providesflexible fuel mapping, allowing theengine to respond quickly to varyingapplication needs. It tracks engine andmachine conditions while keeping theengine operating at peak efficiency.

Electronic Control Module.The Electronic Control Module (ECM)works as the “brain” of the engine’scontrol system, responding quickly tooperating variables to maximum engineefficiency. Fully integrated with sensorsin the engine’s fuel, air, coolant, andexhaust systems, the ECM stores andrelays information on conditions such asrpm, fuel consumption, and diagnosticinformation.

Fuel Delivery. The Cat® C7 featureselectronic controls that govern the fuelinjection system. Multiple injectionfuel delivery involves a high degreeof precision.

Air Cleaner. The radial seal air filterfeatures a double-layered filter core formore efficient filtration and is located ina compartment behind the cab. A warningis displayed on the monitor when dustaccumulates above the preset level.

Noise Reduction Technologies.The engine mounts are rubber-isolatingmounts matched with the engine package.Further noise reduction has beenachieved through design changes tothe isolated top cover, oil pan, multipleinjection strategy, insulated timingcover, sculpted crankcase and gear trainrefinements.

High, Square Undercarriage. Providesexcellent over-the-side stability requiredto handle heavy loads and improveproductivity.

Excellent ground clearance providedto clear obstacles.

Longer track roller frames increaseover-the-front stability. Stands up inthe toughest applications.

Modified X-shaped, box sectioncarbody provides excellent resistanceto torsional bending. Upper structureweight and stresses are distributedevenly across the full length of theroller track frame.

Heavy Duty Upper Frame. The upperframe is specifically designed for thescrap and material handling applications.It is built of higher strength materialand thicker steel sections to handleincreased swing loads from the longerfront and heavier counterweights usedin material handling.

StructuresThe 325D MH structural components are the backbone of the machine’s durabilityand provide for excellent stability.

Work Tool Selection. When choosinga work tool, please consider the worktool application, the variation of thedensity of material to be handled andproductivity requirements. Check withyour Cat® dealer for more details onspecifications, sizes, and other worktool types.

Walker Magnets. The Walker 57"(1.45 m) or 66" (1.68 m) Lift Mastermagnets can be used with the 325DMH. These magnets have been designedand engineered for scrap processingapplications. Ask your dealer salespersonfor information on the Walker Magnet.

Orange Peel Grapples. The 0.75 yd3

(0.57 cubic meter) and the 1.25 yd3

(0.96 cubic meter) Orange PeelGrapples are available attachments.

Work Tools – AttachmentsA variety of grapples and magnets are available to maximize machine performancein material handling applications.

Ground Level Service. The design andlayout of the 325D MH was madewith the service technician in mind.Many service locations are easilyaccessible at ground level allowingcritical maintenance to get donequickly and efficiently.

Pump Compartment. A service dooron the right side of the upper structureallows ground-level access to the pumpand pilot filter.

Radiator Compartment. The left rearservice door allows easy access to theengine radiator, oil cooler and air-to-air-after-cooler. A reserve tank and draincock are attached to the radiator forsimplified maintenance.

Air Filter Compartment. The air filterfeatures a double-element constructionfor superior cleaning efficiency.When the air cleaner plugs, a warningis displayed on the monitor screeninside the cab.

Capsule Filter. The hydraulic returnfilter, a capsule filter, is situated outsidethe hydraulic tank. This filter preventscontaminants from entering the systemwhen hydraulic oil is changed andkeeps the operation clean.

Fan Guard. Engine radiator fan iscompletely enclosed by fine wire mesh,reducing the risk of an accident.

Diagnostic and Monitoring. The 325DMH is equipped with S•O•SSM samplingports and hydraulic test ports for thehydraulic system, engine oil, and forcoolant. A test connection for the Cat®

Electronic Technician (Cat® ET) servicetool is located in the cab.

Extended Service Interval. The 325DMH service and maintenance intervalshave been extended to reduce machineservice time and increase machineavailability.

Cat® Dealer Maintenance. Choose fromyour Cat® Dealer’s wide range ofmaintenance services at the time youpurchase your machine. PreventiveMaintenance will help you to avoidunscheduled repairs and diagnosticprograms such as Scheduled Oil Samplingand Technical Analysis are available.
