Agenda
Principal’s Report: The school was disinfected on Friday, many kids not feeling well. The district is working through the referendum projects and in order to ensure safety, there will be no summer school or Boys and Girls Club held at Kennedy School this summer; both will be at PODS (old Jackson School). No timeline has been given yet on the Kennedy pro-jects, but bids are out. April is the estimated start time for beginning remodel at Kennedy School. More information will be communicated as it becomes available. Friday is Profession-al Development day for staff: grade level meetings in the morning, unit meetings in the after-noon. Special Education staff will participate in Nurtured Heart training. Thursday evening and Monday will be parent/teacher conferences. 2019 Holiday Shoppe 2885.58 proceeds/deposits 2718.34 withdrawals = 167.24 profit Movie License renewed 3/21/20 – 3/20/23 Paid $1,337.00 Averages to $445.67/year (was quoted $504 for 1 year.) Art Supplies Reimbursement We approved $283.46 for Art supplies. Total purchases came to $257.55. Social Work Budget ($250) Peggy Bach has $31.81 left in the social work budget. Old Business: Holiday Shoppe: went well, seemed to be enough volunteers. Many items left, likely that less shopping will need to be done next year. Apparel Sale: Webko does not offer personalization any longer, nor do they offer pa-per order forms. They also require the school/PTO to separate items. So Michelle will contact MADA to set up an apparel order for Kennedy. It was decided to upcharge $1.00 per item. New Business: Spring Conference Meal: Staff will be provided with a sandwich bar with choice of ham, turkey, or roast beef. Cheese, veggies, condiments will be available. Soup will be pro-vided as well from Hiawatha. (They offered a discount.) A HUGE thank you to Alex Jazdzewski and Sheri Zubella for organizing this event!! Thank you to Hiawatha for the dis-count! Spaghetti Dinner: April 2
nd, discussion about adding a game for kids, Alex has a punch
game that may work. An attempt is being made to have Kohls employees volunteer. Through the Kohls Cares program, if 5 Kohls employees volunteer for 3 hours, Kohls will donate $500 to the event. There was discussion of excess from last year (dessert, parmesan cheese). Al-so there was a request to get flyers out sooner. Staff Appreciation Week: first week in May. Sherri and Michelle will work on this event. Other: March PTO meeting: Since the 3
rd Monday in March is during Spring Break, the PTO meet-
ing will be held on Monday, March 9th at 6:15pm.
Back to School Night: The date has not been set yet by the district, but it may be around August 26
th. The first day of school is listed on the draft calendar as September 1
st.
PTO participation: discussion was held around how to encourage more parent involve-ment with the PTO. Some ideas included creating flyers to show the cost savings to families of having PTO, having a video created by 6
th graders/students to show at kindergarten visita-
tion day showing PTO sponsored events, inviting new parents to a Meet and Greet at the first PTO meeting of the year.
Kennedy Elementary School Outdoor Learning Classroom
and Tribute Garden
“We can do this brick by brick” Kennedy Elementary School is fortunate to have a very large, beautiful outdoor space that is secluded, peaceful and full of wildlife. This is an ideal place for students to learn and grow. Our vision is to build a gazebo that will be the center point for
the outdoor classroom. Surrounding the gazebo will be a garden that students are responsible for planting and taking care of. The garden will also feature a brick path for students and community members to walk on. If you would like to purchase a brick as a tribute to yourself, family, business or someone you know, please see the options below. This would also be a
wonderful way to honor someone who has passed away. Orders can be placed throughout the year and will be held until the final count in spring. Each spring the bricks will be placed on the path. The path will continue to grow, like our students…
*New this year you can order a personalized brick and have it for your home and not placed on the path! Please check the box on the back of the form indicating this option.
