A bold presentation, MACBETH teems with madness, the supernatural and deliciously unrestrained passion.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth burn with ruthless purpose in Verdi’s opera based on Shakespeare’s classic thriller. After they take the crown, their reign of terror and corruption is engulfed by their doomed fate.
With magnificent sets and costumes from the Pacific Opera Victoria, this production offers a terse and vivid portrayal of Verdi’s richly emotional score. Sung in Italian with English supertitles.

A three hankie opera...
Peel back three decades of misguided love, secrets, resentment and unacknowledged family truths in this intimate one-act chamber opera by Jake Heggie starring world-renowened mezzo soprano DENYCE GRAVES.
We peek in on Madeline, the Broadway star and her two grown children over three Christmases and discover them wrapped ever tighter in conflict and affection. An opera of a family facing success and failure, THREE DECEMBERS is a beautifully poignant and heart wrenching work. Sung in English with English supertitles.

An American Classic
Kentucky Opera leaps into the operatic side of musical theater with a splendid rendition of Kern & Hammerstein’s classic, SHOW BOAT. Life on a Mississippi riverboat is presented in grand opera style, combining the spectacle of glorious singing and staging, sumptuous costumes and familiar tunes with powerful themes of prejudice and tragic, enduring love. Classic songs from SHOW BOAT include “Ol’ Man River,” “Make Believe” and “Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man.” Sung in English with English supertitles.

WHY Do WE lovE opERa?Well, it’s the all-consuming spectacle, the stories, the wonderful music and, of course, the great talents of our singers who thrill us without using microphones.
But what really makes opera a lifelong passion is the power of the emotions.
Emotions – love, sorrow, joy, fear, rage, revenge, desire – no matter what the character is feeling, opera conveys those feelings with clarity and complexity unequalled in any other art form. Other arts can touch us deeply but opera can be life-changing.
I invite you to become part of our vibrant community.
If you’re ready to get more from life, join the music lovers of Kentucky and GET MORE OPERA!
