Kett’s Books is open again! We are thrilled to let you know that Kett’s Books has opened its doors again, and we’re welcoming customers in to browse our lovely books.

We’ve got plenty of hand sanitiser and have taken steps to keep you safe. As part of the changes we have altered our opening hours. We’ll let you know when we’re able to extend them again.

Eve and Johnny are both really happy to carry on with the mini-catalogue, so you’ll still be getting inspiration once a week; however, the world is slowly opening up again, and we are happy to announce that Kett’s Books is now open for browsing on Monday to Saturday, 9.30am to 5pm.

We hope to extend the hours further in the next few weeks.

We are still taking precautions to keep you safe, by asking customers to please:

• use hand sanitiser before you browse

• wear a mask when shopping

• limit browsing to 10 minutes if there is a queue

• limit the number of customers in the shop at any time.

We have a one-way system, our till is protected by a screen, and of course our volunteers will also have masks. We are taking daily precautions to keep the shop clean and safe.

You can still order using [email protected], by calling us on 01953 603663, or you can browse our stock online at www.kettsbooks.co.uk/shop

We’ll still be able to offer deliveries directly to your home, wherever you are in the country. We look forward to seeing you again. Thank you for all your kind words, your support and your encouragement.

Intimations: Six EssaysZadie Smith £5.99, PB, 96pp Availability: Good‘There will be many books written about the year 2020: historical, analytic, political and comprehensive accounts. This is not any of those - the year isn’t half-way done. What I’ve tried to do is organise some of the feelings and thoughts that events, so far, have provoked in me, in those scraps of time the year itself has allowed. These are above all

personal essays: small by definition, short by necessity.’Deeply personal and powerfully moving, this is a short and timely series of essays on the experience of lockdown, by one of the most clear-sighted and essential writers of our time. Crafted with the sharp intelligence, wit and style that have won Zadie Smith millions of fans, Intimations is a vital work of art, a gesture of connection and an act of love – an essential book in extraordinary times.
