Undergraduate Studies: Only a limited number of specific University Degree Programs are

available. Many of them offer geothermal specialisation block courses integrated in programs of

Geosciences, Georesources and types of Engineering.

Graduate and Post-Graduate Studies: MSc Degree and PhD in geothermal-specific

education, but only a few European Universities hold chairs in Geothermal Energy and rarely

in English (e.g. Bochum).

International Geothermal Education Opportunities: Short courses/Training/Workshops

offered through International Organizations (e.g. IGA Academy, EGEC).

Mobility Programs: Not specific mobility programmes for geothermal researchers and students.

Nevertheless researchers and students can make use of general mobility programmes such

as Erasmus, Erasmus+, Marie Curie Actions and Cost Actions.

Vocational Training: Vocational High Schools and Vocational Training Centres are widespread

in Europe, but do not offer a satisfactory preparation for market demand in the geothermal

sector.

Increasing demand of geothermal experts due to the growing geothermal energy sector.

Training in geothermal exploration, exploitation and utilization is available mostly in EU, US, JAP, NZ, Africa, LA but still inadequate for supply the high skilled workforce needed in the geothermal sector.

High lack of specialists in many fields of expertise on different levels of skills for both shallow and deep geothermal.

Lack of multidisciplinary expertise.

New & more competences are required. Stronger focus on Asia!
