Perkins School for the Blind offers two Guest House Accommodations on our 39 acre campus. The NorthEast Outreach Tower and Health Services Apartment offer comfortable accommodations for parents, prospective parents and visitors of our campus. Both spaces offer visitors a place to stay that is warm and inviting with many of the comforts of home.

The NorthEast Outreach Tower offers 4 bedroom accommodations with shared baths, and an additional four handicap accessible accommodations with shared bath. Our Health Services Apartment accommodations offer 3 bedrooms with a shared bath. Parking is available in our Beechwood Parking Lot for both locations. The Guest House is a smoke-free facility.

RESERVATIONSAll reservations must be made online (reservations are necessary) through the AskHowe reservation form under the Facilities and Property Management Department Resource page.All changes to reservations are processed by emailing the Guest House, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. [email protected]

Please Note: Arrivals after 10:00 p.m. require special instructions. If your guest plans to arrive after 10:00 p.m., please let us know when making the reservation or be sure to call us before 4:00 p.m. on the day of arrival.

Reservations can be made for up to a 7 day stay per guest or 14 day stay for international guests. Reservations that may exceed this time period will be reviewed on a case by case basis and approved based upon availability.

CANCELLATION POLICY Departments must cancel reservations within 72 hours in order to not incur a fee.

PAYMENTAll guest stays will be invoiced. Payment by guest is expected upon check in. We accept cash, check and credit card payments.

Guest House charges, being funded by a Perkins Department/Program, are expected to be processed and completed in 30 days.

CHECK IN / CHECK OUTCheck-in is 3:00PM.Check-out is 11:00AMEarly check-in and late check-out is reviewed on a case by case basis and is offered when available. Changes to check in times must be arranged before the date of stay.

KEYS AND SECURITYThe NorthEast Outreach Tower exterior entrance runs on a key card system. The Health Services Apartment exterior entrance runs on a keyed lock. Each individual guest room is then accessed by a key. Once a reservation is confirmed, a work order is generated for Security to activate a key card or issue a key along with an accompanying room key. All visitors should contact the Security Office when they arrive to pick up their key/card and room key - Security 617-201-0997. If available, Security will meet the guest at the main level of the respective Guest House.

It is the responsibility of the hosting department to communicate our Guest House Accommodations key policy to visitors and guests.

Our Security team is on staff 24 hours a day; please do not hesitate to call them regarding any emergency or safety related issue.

When departing, be sure that windows are closed and doors are closed and locked.  Drop keys in the key drop box located near the exit of both Guest House Accommodations.

**Guests will be charged $10.00 for missing or lost keys or key cards.

WEATHER EMERGENCY AND FIRE SAFETY INFORMATIONSevere Weather Response

During a severe weather alert, guests should: Move to a safe interior room in a building or vehicle with windows closed Avoid using electrical equipment or telephone; use battery operated equipment

If there is a Tornado warning announcement, guests should: Move to a safe windowless area or interior room. Stay in room until “All Clear” has been announced by the Incident Commander or Security.

IF you are caught outside, guest should: Seek shelter in a nearby building or sturdy structure If you are in your vehicle, find a safe area to park, in an open area away from large trees, electrical

poles or other structures. Notify Incident Commander and/or Security of any weather related issues.

Call 911 if there is a threat to human life or conditions need local emergency response

Fire Safety Response

In the event of a fire alarm, guests should: Evacuate the guesthouse as quickly and as safely as possible by following the Exit signs Maintain a safe distance from the building.

Stay out of the Guesthouse until the “All Clear” is given by the Watertown Fire Department or Security.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS Smoking is not permitted at either Guest House, please use the designated smoking areas as noted in

the Campus Smoking map Candles, incense and similar open-flame producing devices shall not be allowed in either Guest

House There is no alcohol allowed in either Guest House, nor on campus No minors, under the age of 18, are permitted to stay without being accompanied by an adult Service dogs permitted – no other pets or animals are permitted in either Guest House Please do not have any packages or materials sent to either Guest House. Please contact your

hosting department regarding arrangements for items to be shipped For everyone’s safety, please do not prop open any exterior doors Please do not occupy any room, other than the one assigned to you

LIMITATIONS OF STAY AND FEES * PRIORITY OF USE PARENTS AND FAMILY

Parents and/or family members, in one bedroom, are able to stay up to four (4) nights free during the school year. Additional visits will be charged a $50.00 nightly fee, per person. There will be no additional charges if the Perkins student stays with them in the same room.

Prospective students and family visiting the campus for admissions purposes can stay for free for a maximum of three (3) nights during the school year. Students and family visiting the campus for an evaluation are charged $50.00 per person per night for a maximum of three (3) nights during the schoolyear.

ALUMNI

Alumni can stay at either Guest House for two (2) nights per schoolyear for free. Additional visits will be charged a $50.00 nightly fee, per person.

PROGRAM / DEPARTMENT GUESTS & CONSULTANT OR INSTITUTIONAL PARTNER

Any Program/Department that has booked either Guest House for a visitor, trainer or event attendee, will be charged a $50.00 nightly fee per person. It is up to the Program/Department to specify how the guest will be billed when submitting the reservation (e.g., guest to be invoiced or department to cover the expense).

PRIORITY OF USE

The Campus Guest Houses are designed as accommodation for parents and visitors of the campus.

FIRST PRIORITY

FIRST PRIORITY

First priority of stay is awarded to campus educational programs, parents and family of existing students for evaluations, IEP reviews and any other school related or medical visit.

SECOND PRIORITY

Second priority of stay is offered to prospective students and family members here for an evaluation or campus visit.

THIRD PRIORITY

Third priority of stay is offered to Department and Program guests here for campus visits, seminars, workshops or trainings.

ROOM LAYOUTS AND AMENITIESThe NorthEast Outreach Tower Guest House is located in the north tower of the NorthEast Building. There are 7 bedrooms, a common area, 3 dining areas, and 3 kitchens complete with oven, cooktop, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, coffeemaker, and dishwasher. All of these areas are shared space available to anyone staying in the NorthEast Outreach Tower Guest House. Following are descriptions of the rooms available for reservation.

NORTHEAST OUTREACH TOWER ROOMS

First Floor (only floor with wheelchair accessible rooms) N117 is a 2 twin bed accommodation

** Cots are available upon request

The following room can be reserved for Educational Programs ONLY N122 is a 3 twin bed accommodation N123 is a 2 twin bed accommodation

*These rooms are released for Department use 14 days before first day of stay.

HEALTH SERVICES GUEST HOUSE ROOMS

The Health Services Guest House is located above the Health Services Clinic. There are 3 bedrooms and 1 kitchen complete with oven, cooktop, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, coffeemaker, and dishwasher available to anyone staying in Health Services Guest House. Following are descriptions of the rooms available for reservation.

Second Floor East Room is a 2 twin bed accommodation SouthWest Room is a 3 twin bed accommodation NorthWest Room is a 1 twin bed accommodation

AMENITIES

SHARED KITCHEN

The shared kitchen comes stocked with the following items.

Bottled water Milk Orange juice Coffee, tea, creamer and condiments Cereal Fruit Bread Butter pats Jelly pats

We encourage guests to use the shared kitchenette. We would like to remind guests that it is their responsibility to uphold general cleanliness. Please clean all dishes and kitchen equipment used, wipe down surfaces used and discard trash and left over food in the appropriate receptacle.

** Food Services/Stores will not accept Department/Program requests for additional food items.

** While outside food is permitted, we ask that guests respect that we are a nut-free campus

A list of local restaurants is available in both common living room areas of the Bradlee Guest House.

Housekeeping is responsible for daily cleaning of all spaces in the Guest House. The housekeeper will clean occupied guest rooms every day starting at 12:00 p.m. If guests are occupying rooms at the scheduled time of cleaning, guests will forfeit housekeeping services for that day.All occupied guest rooms will be supplied with fresh towels and hotel shampoo, soap and lotion.

LOST AND FOUND

All items identified as “lost and found” should be turned in to campus security.

LOST OR STOLEN PROPERTY

Personal property accountability is the responsibility of every guest. Each individual must take reasonable

precautions to protect his or her personal property.

The school does not assume responsibility for any lost or stolen personal property. Please keep all personal

property on your person. If you do become the victim of a theft, immediately report it to campus security.
