Where can I find/submit a CSF application?

You can find applications in Room 129, in the counseling office, on the school website, and on Ms. Simon’s CSF webpage. Submit your completed application to Ms. Simon in Room 129 (during HR only).

When is my CSF application due?

You MUST submit your 100% completed application within 30 days of the beginning of EACH new semester. The specific date will be announced in the morning bulletin, will be posted on flyers around campus, and Google Classroom. Per CSF by-laws, late applications will NOT be accepted.

How do I know if I qualify for CSF membership?

If you did NOT earn any D’s or F’s on your most recent semester report card and DID earn mostly A’s and B’s, you may qualify for CSF membership. Follow the directions on the application carefully in order to determine for certain whether or not you qualify. If you need help, see Ms. Simon in Room 129 (during HR only). Watching the video HERE will also help.

What are my CSF dues? When are they due? Where can I pay them?

CSF members MUST pay $5 per qualifying semester.A receipt indicating payment of dues should besubmitted with each membership application.Members who do not pay their dues in a timelymanner will be considered in poor standing and riskbeing dropped from CSF. Dues can be paid at thestudent store or in the accounting office. Receiptsshould be stapled to the upper left hand corner of yourCSF membership application!

What do my CSF dues pay for?

Your dues cover the following costs:● State CSF affiliation dues for school site● Depending on the level of grad honors

you earn: Sealbearer certificate, certificate cover, sealbearer pin, transcript/diploma seals, honor cord, academic achievement medal

Do summer school courses count toward membership?

No, summer school courses do NOT count toward CSF membership. No exceptions.

Do courses taken at AVC count toward CSF membership?

Yes, but only if the course(s) was/were taken during the regular school year. Courses taken over the summer, even if at a college, do NOT count toward membership.

How do I qualify to graduate in gold?

In order to graduate in gold and earn the status of CSF Sealbearer (Level 1) you MUST:

● Earn CSF membership in at least 4 of the last 6 semesters (sophomore through senior year); one of those semesters MUST be earned with Semester 1 Senior grades. (Grades earned in the final semester, just before graduation, may be used toward the final count of 4)

● Maintain citizenship grades and a discipline record indicative of positive behavior in class and on campus

● Pay ALL membership dues in a timely manner

Can I be dropped from CSF membership even if I have the grades to qualify?

Yes, per CSF by-laws, any student who is otherwise eligible, but who in the judgement of the advisor and/or school principal is an unworthy citizen, may be removed from CSF membership.

What are the 3 levels of CSF graduation honors?● Level 1: 4 semesters of full membership

● Level 2: 6 semesters of full membership

● Level 3: 8 semesters of full membership

What do I get with each of the 3 levels of CSF graduation honors?

● Level 1: 4 semesters of full membership○ Life membership certificate, gold CSF

pin, gold grad cap & gown

● Level 2: 6 semesters of full membership○ All level 1 honors plus the Highest

Honor certificate, CSF honor cord

● Level 3: 8 semesters of full membership○ All level 2 honors plus a 3-inch

academic achievement medalNote: There is no additional cost for these items.

Membership dues cover the cost.

Who do I go to if I have questions regarding CSF?

Ms. Simon is the current CSF advisor for Knight High School. You can see her in person in Room 129 during HR, message her through Google Classroom, or e-mail her at asimon@avhsd.org.

Does CSF do anything as a club?

YES! CSF meets twice a month (1st and 3rd Friday of each month) in Room 129 to plan fundraising activities, community service projects, and other fun activities on campus. Come by and check it out! Remember, the CSF motto is “Scholars for Service!”

Do freshman grades count toward CSF membership?

Students who meet the grade requirements for CSF per their semester 1 and/or semester 2 report cards of their freshman year will be bestowed the status of Associate Member. A student who earns associate membership for 2 consecutive semesters and 6 consecutive semesters of full membership will earn the honor of wearing a special medal at graduation in addition to all honors bestowed to Level 1 and Level 2 CSF honorees. Please note, however, that grades from freshman year do not count toward the minimum number of qualifying semesters required to graduate in gold.

Can I submit applications for older semesters?

No. Article IV Section 2 of the CSF by-laws strictly prohibits us from accepting retroactive membership applications.
