IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER DROP OFF/PICK UP INFORMATION:

All students must be dropped off and picked up at the Student Services Center, 1st floor. Use the rear entrance, facing the Activities Center. Due to construction, the only entrance is on the 1st floor, rear entrance to building. For safety reasons, parents are required to park and walk their children both in and out of the building.

Extended Care AM Students may be dropped off beginning at 7:30 a.m. – NO EARLIER. Extended Care AM will not be offered the first day of each camp.

Half Day Students must be picked up by 12:15 p.m. Extended Care PM Students must be picked up BY 5:00 p.m. – NO LATER.

In Person RegistrationYou may register at any NWF State College campus or center in the Student Services area. A completed registration and consent form is required prior to the registration process. These releases are located on the reverse of each registration form. Again, students will not be registered unless this form is filled out. If you are registering a child for both sessions, only one (1) medical release/consent form needs to be completed. ATHLETICS & FITNESS

TennisIn this class students learn the basic concepts of the game. No prior tennis experience is needed. Students must provide their own tennis racquet. Tennis racquets MUST be labeled with the student’s name. Mornings only.

Basketball This class is offered for those who want to work on the dribble, the pass, and the score! Students will participate in drills and lots of teamwork. No previous basketball experience is required. Please wear tennis shoes each day.

Advanced BasketballAlready play basketball? Then this class is for you. Learn more advanced skills, drills and game strategies.

Martial Arts Mania Be more confident in SELF DEFENSE STRATEGIES! Learn how to be a SAFETY NET KID! Develop focus and power thru BOARD BREAKING! Gain speed and coordination with NUNCHUCKS! Come train and have fun in MARTIAL ARTS MANIA! We teach the life skills you want for your kids! Respect, Confidence, Self-Control and Discipline.

Volleyball This class will teach you the fundamentals of volleyball. Learn to serve, spike, and score! No previous experience needed! Just wear shorts and tennis shoes each day and be ready to play volleyball on our sand courts. 5th – 8th grades, mornings only.

NEW - Stretch & Strengthen!Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a surfer, a tree, a cat, a cow or a crocodile? This class is designed to promote flexibility, strength, balance and coordination. Wear comfortable clothes and no shoes. A yoga mat or beach towel is all you need to participate. Mornings only.

ART

NEW - Gifts from the GulfThis class will transform any beach lover into a marine artist. Ocean artisans will create various 2D and 3D projects using multiple art mediums including watercolors, plaster, chalk, foam, acrylics and paper. These unique creations will be inspired by the sun, sand, saltwater, shells, and sea life of our local waters.

Imagination StationGet your imagination going and bring it with you to the Imagination Station! This art class is for those who love creative art projects! Each day we will create and design new art projects, using many types of art mediums. Come show your artistic ability and imagination! Arts and Crafts with a twist!

Mosaics MagicLearn the basics of creating stained glass artwork while creating your own stained glass mosaic keepsake box. You will learn all about working with stained glass and leave with a finished project. You will develop your artistic skills while learning how to cut glass and how to apply the glass to any surface! Be aware that this class requires attention to detail and you will work on your art project during each of the eight class days. 5th – 8th grades, Session 1 only.

NEW - Jewelry MakingDo you enjoy making your own jewelry – if so do we have a class for you! You will have a chance to design and create 3 original works of art you can wear or share! You can also make some beautiful gifts!!

Extended Care AMParents may drop students off beginning at 7:30 a.m. each morning at the Student Services Center, 1st floor, for supervised time before classes start. Students can play organized games before the start of the day. THERE IS NO MORNING EXTENDED CARE THE FIRST DAY OF EACH SESSION.

LunchFOR FULL DAY STUDENTS ONLY. Students may bring sack lunches or register for the lunch package. Registering for this course will provide students with a daily, complete lunch. A standard menu will be provided for each day and no changes or substitutions will be available.

Extended Care PMStudents will meet in the Student Services Center, 1st floor, after the last class of the day for supervised activities. Students enrolled in Extended Care PM must be picked up NO LATER than 5:00 p.m.

Mad ScientistExplore the world of science in this fun and innovating class, Mad Scientist. Learn academic concepts like density, buoyancy, and mixtures all while creating and completing experiments. Exploration of ship and rocket design to the creation of your very own solar oven! Come learn about the wonderful world of science in Mad Scientist!

Freshwater FrenzyJoin the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance as we take a dive into our local waters! If you like learning about frogs, creeks, lakes and fish—this is the class for you! Together, we will be learning about all of the life that can be found in and around freshwater. We will conduct a frog survey, look at live animals in a touch tank, dissect carnivorous plants and also take a walking field trip to Robert’s Lake, the freshwater lake found on campus. We hope you will join us to explore the awesome waters of Florida! Session 1 only.

Exploring Florida’s Aquatic EcosystemsJoin Mattie M. Kelly Environmental Institute (MKEI) on a journey of Florida’s diverse aquatic ecosystems. If you want to learn about water, animals, plants and how everything is connected, this journey is for you! We will take virtual trips to ecosystems like the springs, coral reefs, and the Everglades. Become a scientist through interactive, hands-on activities and experiments. Each participant is recognized as a MKEI young scientist upon completion of the class! 3-5th Grades, Session 2 , mornings only.

NEW - Shark Biologist & Prehistoric FloridaThis exciting class will explore the beauty and science behind sharks and some of Florida’s prehistoric organisms. Through a variety of different STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) influenced activities you will learn about shark biology, fossils and prehistoric animals that once and still do call Florida home.

Creative WritingHave you ever imagined yourself traveling through time? Or do you like to rhyme? Try writing your ideas down on paper sometime, so you can look back at your adventures from the summertime. In this class students will expand on their imaginations and writing skills to create short stories and poems. At the end of the session each student will submit one piece of writing to create a book for students and parents to share. Afternoons only.

Sign LanguageDid you know there are many other ways to communicate with your friends other than talking? Take this class and learn to talk with your hands! From the alphabet, to full sentences and more!

NEW - Math MagicDo you want to have some fun doing tricks on people with numbers? I know, it is not easy to think of math and fun at the same time. Not only can you have fun, you can make people think you are a “Psychic” or a “hypnotist”. In this course, learn cool tricks you can do and faster ways to do computations like additions, subtraction, multiplication etc. Session 1 only.

Math Have you ever gotten frustrated with math? Wonder where and when you will use the math you have learned? Come join us to learn how to have fun with math. It is not always just paper and pencil. Students will do hands on activities that are exciting and will help students understand just how all the math they know is used in the real world. Grade specific. Session 2 only.

NEW - Here We Go Loop-De-LoopThis class will offer students a chance to continue reading and learning about popular topics in a cooperative, literacy station-style atmosphere. The students will rotate through the loops (stations) throughout the class offering comprehension, close-reading, and writing activities, as well as incorporating art into reading. This class allows each child a chance to learn and explore their creativity on topics such as science, the Arts, sports, history, and fantasy, as well as allowing them to create personal journals and art as self-expression. If you enjoy learning about these topics and want to have fun while learning, this is the class for you. Grade specific, Session 2 only.

Intro to RoboticsLearning computer programming with robots is fun and easy! Come learn to program a Mindstorms® EV3 robot that uses sensors and motors to pick up objects, follow lines, and stop before crashing into a wall. Perfect for students thinking about joining a FIRST® LEGO® League Robotics team! 2 hour class. 4th–5th Grades, mornings only.

My RobotStep into the future and learn to build and program robots. You will learn how to program a set of directions for a robot you build. Program your robot to go through an obstacle course and see if you have the right stuff to get your robot through the course. 2-hour class, 6th – 8th grades only.

Intro to Computers & Web DesignFalling behind in the computer age? With technology constantly evolving in the world it’s hard to get ahead without basic knowledge of computers and some of the applications. This fun and exciting class will help you understand not only computer fundamentals but, all Microsoft/Internet basics and introduce you to the work behind designing your own website. If you don’t want to be left behind Computers 101 is the place to be! 3rd – 4th grades only.

Web DesignEver wonder about all those cool websites you see while surfing the Internet? Want to create your own website? Learn the basics of creating a website and become a webmaster. We start with the basics of web design and then you build your own website, including pictures and links. By the end of class you’ll have a website on whatever subject you choose that you created! 5th – 8th grades only.

3D PrintWhat the mind can imagine, a 3D Printer can make! Digital creations come to life as the layers are laid down. Visualize the design. Create the design using a 3D modeling CAD program and bring it to life with the 3D printer. Come and join the class. Don’t forget to bring your imagination with you. 2 hour class, 6th– 8th Grades, Afternoons only.

Mind BogglersHave you ever been told to think “outside the box?” Here is your chance to do just that. This class will help you think differently and to understand that there is more than one way to solve a problem. Teamwork is the key when trying to solve one of these problems. Grade specific.

NEW - Forensic Anthropology Do you love a good Mystery? Bones have a story. We can learn the age, height and other information to ancestry by examining bones that are left behind. We will use a skull just like Forensic Artists use to create a face image of what a person might have looked like from long ago.5th -8th Grades only.

DANCE, MUSIC & THEATRE

GuitarWant to pluck your way into the music world? Here’s a great way to get started. Students will start with chords and work their way up to a wonderful performance the last day of class. Students must provide their own guitar. The guitar MUST be labeled with the student’s name. No electric guitars, please.

JugglingCan’t hold on to three things at once? This is the class for you! Learn the basics of Juggling. Amaze your family and friends. Afternoons only.

NEW - Learn to Beatbox!Learn to Beatbox! Have you ever wanted to make music with just your mouth and voice? Take this class to learn how to make cool sound effects, and to become a drummer without ever needing a set! You’ll learn fun, exciting sounds like how to sound like a trumpet, how to make DJ scratch noises, and even maybe how to sing and beatbox at the same time! Here you’ll learn the basics of musical rhythm, and a whole bunch of mouth sounds along the way. After this class, you’ll be able to drum along with all your favorite songs in your own unique way! No music experience necessary. Session 1 only.

Hip Hop Hooray!Let’s get movin’! This is a chance to let loose. Although hip hop is still just as demanding as ballet, it is more relaxed and free to Interpretation. Come join us and learn the latest hip hop moves! No dance experience required. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and dance shoes or socks.

Irish DanceNo dance experience required! If you can skip or gallop, you can Irish dance. This heart pumping dance class is for you if you are interested in learning the basic beginning steps of Irish dancing as well as a fast-paced choreographed dance set to modern Irish music made popular by the shows “Lord of the Dance” and “Riverdance.” Session 1, afternoons only.

Jammin’ Jazz ClassThis dance style is super fun and upbeat. You will learn the basics of jazz dance including leaps, turns and kicks. This is a very lively style of dance. Come join us for a great time! No dance experience required. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and dance or tennis shoes.

Theater Production Focus on the more technical aspects of theater. Sound and music production, lighting effects and visual effects. Design and create a program and tickets, as well as contribute design and model ideas to the technical theater class. Mornings only.

Technical TheaterFocus on building and making backgrounds, set pieces and costumes. You will be creating a full set based off of designs from the Theater Production class. You will also learn how to make and create costumes for the entire cast as well as props to be used in the Musical Theater production. Mornings only.

KOC TheatreLet the show begin! This musical theatre class is looking for musical and energetic students to bring this summer’s selection to life. This class is designed for students to meet new friends, get on stage and perform, and simply have fun! Learn elementary music skills, as well as basic choreography movements to fit the song selections. The chosen musical will be fit for all ages, but most importantly is guaranteed to entertain! We hope to see many smiling faces ready to dance and sing; so as they say in show business, “that’s all folks!” 2-hour class, grade specific.

The Next Great IdolAre you the next Justin Timberlake or Taylor Swift? Do you love to sing? Then let’s make a CD. This class includes vocal lessons and voice training in preparation for recording a CD that will be produced and recorded at the end of week 2. Classes are upbeat, fun and informative and will cover the fundamentals of vocal performance, as well as live performance styles, techniques and stage presence. This is an excellent class for current school or church choir members, and performers as well as inexperienced singers. 4th – 8th grades.

LIFE SKILLS

Jr. SafetyFirst aid is a life skill that everyone can and should learn. Have you ever seen someone fall over and hurt their leg? Or perhaps you know someone who’s been very ill? Have you ever been near an accident? Imagine being able to help in each of these situations – that’s what first aid is all about. You can learn the skills and gain confidence to save lives! Law Enforcement officers learn skills valuable to the safety of the community! Have you ever wanted to learn about law enforcement and what it take to be the police? Come join us so we can teach you some of the basic expertise to become a law enforcement officer in the State of Florida!3rd – 5th Grades, afternoons only.

Advanced Jr. SafetyLearn CPR, First Aid, and Fire Safety! Learn how to deliver basic First Aid for emergencies. Learn CPR including the use of AED’s and what to do for someone who is choking. Students will also learn what to do if there is a fire, setting up an emergency plan, what to do if you are trapped, and how and when to use a fire extinguisher. Want to know what it is like to be a police officer? Spend time with police officers and some of the equipment they use. Learn about internet safety, personal safety, what it takes to be a leader in the public safety world! Work off some energy with punching bags and using practice batons!! But most importantly, learn how to respect others and help those who need assistance, just like police officers do. 6th-8th grades, afternoons only.

Adventures of the Piggy BankJoin us on our financial quest to learn how to manage money while still having fun. Learn how to balance a checkbook, keep track of deposits, and how money works in everyday situations through role play as customers, bankers, employers and clerks. Participants will also leave the class with the materials needed to start saving today with their own piggy banks and a savings account through BBVA Compass.3rd – 5th Grades, Mornings only.

Adventures in FinanceJoin us on our financial quest to learn how to manage finances while still having fun. Participants will learn life skills such as how to balance a checkbook, what it’s like to pay bills, the importance of savings and how to incorporate technology into their everyday banking needs. Participants will also learn how to balance a budget and explore career options and the cost of living. Participants will also leave the class with the materials needed to start saving today with their own piggy banks and a savings account through BBVA Compass. 6th – 8th Grades, Mornings only.

BabysittingThinking about becoming a babysitter? This class will provide you with all the tools you need! Create a babysitting bag full of fun activities, easy experiments, and tons of games. We are also going to make and care for flour BABIES! Don’t miss out on all of the babysitting fun!
