Umbwe routeUmbwe routeUmbwe routeUmbwe routeIn our experience this is the ultimate way to climb Kilimanjaro. The route is characterized by steep slopes, dense rainforest, narrow ridges, valleys and glaciers. Although it is shorter than other routes it is steeper, but the rewards are somuch bigger. It is the most scenic route by far, giving you a chance to see all the different treasures Kilimanjaro has to offer.

Lemosho routeLemosho routeLemosho routeLemosho routeThe Lemosho route offers you proper acclimatization time as your first two days of climbing take a bit longer than theother routes. This is the only route that offers you beautiful scenery of the Northern ice field of Kilimanjaro.

The only route starting at the Kenyan border (however you do not cross into Kenya). This route offers you beautifulscenery, as the front side of Kilimanjaro facing Kenya. The Marangu route is most commonly used to descend Kilimanjaro.The huts on this route may not be used by climbers and you will therefore have to use a tent.

It is the most popular route on the mountain as it givesyou more time to acclimatize. You stay in tents and descent on the Mweka route.

The guides eXplore Plus uses are all permanently employed and are issued with a guide license by the National Parks. Thislicense is obtained after several years of experience of working on the mountain as porters or cooks and then as assistantguides after which they attend courses in First Aid, Mountain Rescue, Flora and Fauna and History.

Those who have climbed Kilimanjaro know that your guide & porters are the heart and soul of your climb. They mightmean the difference between making it and having to turn back disappointed. Our porters and guides are paid according tolocal standards. However, they rely on their tips, as their wages are small.
