Ask students questions about the key details (most important) parts of the text

What is the main topic of the text? Retell the key details of the texto What did the author want you to learn

about? What was the most important information about the topic?

Ask about unknown words—what do you think the words mean? o Use pictures and the rest of the text to

help figure out unknown words Where is the front cover of the book? Back

cover? Title page? Who is the author? Illustrator? What does the

author do? What does the illustrator do? What did you learn from reading the text? Can you think of another book you have read

about this topic? How was it similar? How was it different?
