It can be shown in caring for others, being helpful, benevolent, sacrificial, sympathetic, considerate and just humane. Over the years, there has been a general tendency for harshness and bitterness brought about by the growing cycles of pains and hurts suffered by one and extended to others within the society. However, as Christians, God expects us to be different, not to react with pains and hurts but to respond with kindness towards all because we have His nature of love in us. There is no justification for us to walk in hatred or to repay evil for evil. Joseph was hated by His brothers but he chose to repay them with kindness. Jesus taught us so and demonstrated it for all to see. Our discussion today focuses on how we should show kindness to others in spite of the pains and hurts so freely traded and experienced in the world. 1. “Hurting people hurt others”. Our society is caught up in a cycle of hurts, pain and vengeance. How has this affected your desire or ability to show kindness? 2. In spite of our past experiences, hurts and the stories we might have heard, God's Word instructs us to show kindness. Jesus, even on the cross, prayed for people nailing him to death. Let the mind of Christ be expressed through your life. Below are ways we can demonstrate kindness in spite of our harsh environment: Make forgiveness a lifestyle. Decide in advance. Luke 6:37; Matt 6:14-15. Learn to show empathy Matt 7:12. Stop the cycle of repaying evil for evil Rom 12:20-21; 1Peter 3:9. Be sensitive to other people's need James 2:15-16. Have a benevolent disposition to others Proverbs 11:25. vengeance to God Rom 12:19. See being hurt as a tool in the hand of the enemy to hinder you and so rise above it.2 Cor 2:11, Prov 19:11 We cannot grow spreading hatred around. We prove no point by simply repaying evil with evil. Someone put it this way, “DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT DARKNESS, LIGHT THE CANDLE”. Arise, Shine for you are the light of the world. Make a difference. Make every encounter with people an opportunity to show kindness. This week, help someone smile, cause someone to see differently than he ordinarily would. A little act of kindness goes a long way beyond what you can imagine. You were saved to add value and change the world. God is with as you aim to do so. You will succeed in Jesus' name.

Showing Kindness To Others IIICol 3:12-14

We have seen that love is our nature as Christians and that kindness is a practical expression of our love nature. The only way that people around you will know that you are a Christian is when they are blessed by your acts of kindness. In today's outline we shall focus on some practical ways to show kindness.

1. The kindness you show to anyone will return back to you both in this life and in the world to come. Eccl 11:1. What do you think? Heb 13:2-3.

2. The proof of your Christianity is your ability to walk in love. Here are a few ways to do so through simple acts of kindness:

Show empathy, not criticism, seek to understand why people behave the way they do. Rom 2:1-2.

Be sensitive to other people's feelings. Col 3:12. Overlook other people's fault and forgive. We are all work-in-progress. Col 3:13. Add value to others, give a helping hand, and share what you have that can

benefit others positively. Gal 6:10. Love your enemies, do not 'kill' them!. Matt5:44.

God has shown us kindness by laying down His life for us. Let this flow from us to others. Do some acts of kindness this week. That will be God acting through you. You will succeed in Jesus' name.
