This church seeks to be a place of safety and acceptance for all people. John 17: 1-19 …”Do you ever feel like you dont belong? Do you ever feel like nobody gets you with your obsession with Jesus? Are people perplexed by your apparent indifference to the rat-race of accumulating position, possession and popularity? If you do, I suggest that your Christian walk is going well. We are in the world but clearly our purpose is not primarily of it. Jesus has drawn us to himself through his selfless love and here, in the last night before he is betrayed, we hear his prayer for the disciples, and the disciples disciples andtheir disciples who, are, well.., us! So here are the words of the Word who has placed the Word within his followers. Jesusprayer for us.., His church. He is leaving them but not alone. He does not so much pray for them, but he prays in them, in us, joy. A joy that is complete, transcendent and ultimately eternal. He knows the trials you will face in your walk but he knows also that as you go west whilst your friends go east, your purpose, consolation, reward and destiny is home. You dont belong here, but you must be here so that others who also dont belong may also find their way home. And the Father Son and Holy Spirit walk with you. I find a lot of comfort in that. Rev. 2018 NAIDOC WEEK (NAIDOC =National Aborigines and Islanders Day Ob-servance Committee) NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to partici-pate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. UCAF and CONGREGATION. After our 9.30 meeting on Wednesday 27th. June, we will be hearing from Eleanor & Peter McRobert who have spent the last three months taking care of Deal Island in Bass Strait. We are inviting members of the congregation to join us for morn-ing tea at 10 . 30 am & then to hear of Peter's & Eleanor's sure to be fascinating adventure.
