    CLASSIC EDUCATION: THEORY AND PRACTICE

    Summary

The scope of the paper is classic education theory. Its crucial determination is general culture transmission which is the principle of proposed theories of parenial-ism and existentialism. In this context, numerous aspects are discussed in the fi eld of education: the objectives of education and learning, the role of the school, the nature of knowledge and the choice of educational contents, refl ections on teaching activity and learning as well as the teachers and students place in educational process. Besides analyzing the theory of classic education the author points out its practical aspects. Thus, this article is one more attempt in the research of parenialism and existentialism application in the modern education practice. It is concluded that classic education withstands the ravages of time. Namely, besides numerous and often justifi ed critics of other Schools of refl ection, this particular type of education has a powerful infl uence in western world. Numerous academic proposals for educational reforms have been carefully considered in several last decades, which points out the necessity for gradual return to traditional and confi rmed knowledge and values. This refl ects a profound and constant infl uence of parenialism and existentialism towards educational thought as well as creation of educational policy of many countries worldwide.

Key words: classic education, parenialism, existentialism, academic excel-lence
