Democrat Leon Koziol will run for the 47th State Senate seat. He
made thatannouncement this afternoon in Utica. Earlier this week,
Koziol dropped outof the race for U.S. Congress.
In a prepared statement, Koziol said, "As our upstate
communities continuetheir downward spiral in the wake of unbearable
property tax, sales tax andutility rate hikes, our fellow business
people, residents and households arebeing forever deprived of their
American dream."
He went on to say, "I am here to restore for them hope for a
bettertomorrow."
Koziol joins fellow Democrat William Morehouse in the race.
Morehouse iscurrently an Oneida County Legislator. The two will
meet in a DemocraticPrimary on September 12.
On the Republican side, Oneida County Executive Joseph Griffo
and UticaMayor Tim Julian are both running. They will also face
each other in aprimary on September 12.
