Reign Graphics is a freelance design firm that I personally run and manage. The idea for Reign Graphics came from a fascination with the word Reign, which is a term often used to describe an individual’s period of rule.

Based off the definition of the word, crowns were the most relevant and iconic symbols to use. Fusing the word with the symbol, literally, gave birth to the logo for Reign Graphics.

PROJECT: CRU REAL ESTATE

CRU Real Estate based out of Costa Mesa is a real estate agency that deals with a variety of Southern California property. They wanted a unifying logo that brought together the different aspects of their company as well as customized designs for their respective agents.

I created an umbrella for the agency as well as set up a custom ordering system where the agent could request a job based off of a template or create one from scratch. This alliance between CRU and Reign led to the creation of CRU Reign, a graphic design division of CRU Real Estate.

PROJECT: INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL

The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles tasked me to design their volunteer shirts for the week of their event. They wanted something that would stand out from the crowd of celebrities and film critics in an elegant and classy way.

The solution was to create a simple and clean t-shirt with gold print. The logo was placed on the front where it could be seen easily, while the sponsorship logo was placed on the back for marketing purposes.

The client, Glow by Kay, is a full service beauty salon located in Southern California. Creating a classy and elegant logo utilizing earth tones was the criterion.

The logo was sketched by hand, and then proofed by the client. Once this was approved it was imported into Photoshop where it was cleaned up for tracing in Illustrator. During this time two very similar typefaces were discovered, thus they were utilized instead of the trace. This new logo included certain accessories that its predecessor did not. The eyebrow above the “o” as well as the dots located by the tail of the “w” both helps convey the message that Glow is a beauty salon. Color selection was heavily considered based upon the previous criterion provided by the client. The maroon was chosen to provide an elegant yet muddy feel to the logo. To further enhance the royalty of the brand a golden tan was chosen as the accent color. The finished product was vectorized for the client’s use.

Creative Kids Therapy is a therapeutic clinic located in southern California that caters to the needs of disabled children. The client wanted something creative, and child friendly. The solution involved researching drawings that most children respond positively towards. The result was a drawing of a happy family by their house. This image creates a sense of comfort and familiarity for children. While creative and fun the logo also remains professional as it is composed of crisp line art.

The Undergraduate Business Administration of the University of California, Irvine wanted a club shirt that was both professional and fun. The criterion was that the shirt must utilize the UBA logo as well as the slogan “Every Industry Under One Roof.” They also wanted a club banner to display at events.

Following the guidelines for the club shirt, I decided to keep it clean and classy by placing the club logo on the front of the shirt by itself. This brought the viewer’s full attention to the UBA logo. On the back of the shirt I decided to place the slogan under a “swoosh” looking roof, giving it an image and an edge.

As per the banner, the same color scheme was abided by, which instilled a sense of uniformity within the club’s marketing materials.

The Indian Sub-continental Club of the University of California, Irvine was in need of a graphic artist to design their club shirts and party flyers for their academic year. For the club shirt they wanted a graphical depiction of their word of emphasis, Invincible. For their event Garba With Attitude (GWA) they wanted both participant and board member shirts that went along with the Batman theme. They also requested for a hoodie to be printed. For the GWA and After Party flyer there were no criterions placed, just the fact that it needed to appeal to both newer and older generations. The Culture Show and its After Party both needed flyers that associated with the names of the events, Jadoo (MAGIC) and Flashing Lights respectively.

For the club shirt I decided to take a vector approach in designing a lion. This animal is both native to India but also seen in many ways as Invincible. The Garba With Attitude shirts were designed with the focal point being the theme, Batman. Using vectors I embedded GWA into the batman logo. The participant shirt did not come with a name; rather it had the names of the teams that competed in the event. The flyer design stuck to the classics by using a leaf type painting of a dancer performing the Garba. This image bleeds with a maroon that is both classical and modern. The background color maintains the classical feel of the dancer while the thin and round typefaces unite the classical world with the 21st century. The After Party flyer utilized a strong presence of red and roses. This helped convey the message of Intensity. The “ten” was highlighted because this was the 10th annual show. The Culture Show flyer and its After Party flyer did not sway from the name of the event as Jadoo featured heavily on magic while Flashing Lights derived its design from the song by Kanye West.

SERVICES: BRANDING AND CULTURE SHOW MARKETING MATERIALS

The Indian Student Association at Cal Poly Pomona hired me to redesign their logo as well as create marketing materials for their culture show, “Hamare Sanskar Aapke Saath” (Our Culture With You). They wanted the theme to stick to name while creating a fresh perspective on culture and heritage.

The flyer design for the culture show drew inspiration from the iconic images of India such as the peacock, the Indian flag and beautiful landscapes. Utilizing colors to blend these images together I was able to create the Indian flag in a metaphorical sense. The program for the show was 20 pages long, however I included select pages, for the rest consisted of team information. The program warms the viewer’s up to the idea that they will be witnessing a show rather than a performance through the use of depictive images and structure.
