(To treat others as you would like to be treated) Write your own Golden Rule for people to live by and present as a poster.

Year 7 Philosophy Homework

TERM 1 - RISK

Good and Bad; Right and Wrong – How do I decide?

• Three pieces of homework will be set each term in Philosophy.

• Homework should take up to 30 minutes

• Homework is set one and due in the next lesson so you will have a

week to complete it.

• Homework might be a research task, survey, poster or written task and

should be completed on paper.

Homework One (Week 2):

• Are the 10 Commandments still relevant today? You can find a copy

Term 1 - Conflict

Homework One (Week 2):

• Research one war that has happened in the past 100 years.

• Was it a Just War? Why? Why not?

Homework Two (Week 4 ):

• Ask 5 people to explain what Islam believes about war.

• Do their ideas fit with what you have learnt about Jihad in the lesson?

Homework Three (Week 6):

• Can war ever be justified?

• Write an answer to this question using the following paragraph

starters to help you. Explain your ideas and the ideas of others in as

much detail as possible.

• Some people believe that war can be justified. This is because …

• Other people believe that it can-not ever be justified. They believe this

because …

• Some people think that war can be justified in certain situations. For

example ….

Year 9 Philosophy Homework

Term 1 - Desire

• Three pieces of homework will be set each term in Philosophy.

• Homework should take up to 30 minutes

• Homework is set one lesson and due in the next lesson so you will

have a week to complete it.

• Homework might be a research task, survey, poster or written task and

should be completed on paper.

Homework One (Week 2):

• Research the views on one religion other than Islam about greed and

helping those in need

• Be prepared to share your research with the class next lesson.

Homework Two (Week 4):

• Ask 5 people the following question – Do you think the government

does enough to combat poverty in the UK / in the World?

• If not – what else do you think they should do?

• Record the answers and bring to next lesson?

Homework Three (Week 6):

• Many Christians believe sex before marriage is wrong. What are

views about sex before marriage? Write up your answer using the

following paragraph starters.

• Some people believe that sex before marriage is wrong. This is

because …

• Other people believe that sex before marriage is acceptable. They

• Some people think that sex before marriage can be justified in certain
