High-Speed Pinion Gear/Shaft• Finely machined, one-piece chrome molybdenum steel unit• Integral thrust collars transfer aerodynamic and gear thrust loads to the
bullgear to improve reliability and reduce parasitic horsepower losses• RTDs or temperature indicators optional• X-Y vibration probes available inboard and outboard
Integral Gear Case• Horizontally split for simple maintenance
Bullgear, Shaft and Coupling• Bullgear and shaft are integral carbon steel forging• Bullgear shaft oil seal consists of oil slinger ring and reverse
thread labyrinth on shaft with labyrinth seal on gearcase• Oil seal is horizontally split
Bullgear Bearings• Driver side bullgear bearing is horizontally split radial journal
bearing with integral fixed tilted pad thrust bearings• Oil pump side bullgear bearing is one-piece radial journal bearing• Bearings have oil drains to ensure adequate lube oil supply• RTDs or temperature indicators optional• X-Y vibration probes available on driver side; labyrinth seal
is modified to include probe provisions
Main Oil Pump• Gear-rotor type pump• Driven directly by the bullgear shaft for reliable operation and
continued lubrication to bearings in the event of a power failure• Oversized to ensure adequate lubrication to all components
The CMC is the most advanced PLC for blowers available in the marketplace. The large graphical screen displays multiple data at once, reducing the navigation time to a minimum. Other features of this state-of-the-art controller include: alternate languages, real-time system diagnostics, event logging, and active security protection.
CMC Controller
Centac CX Series Blowers utilize exclusive windback labyrinth seals with the air seal completely separate from the gear case to ensure 100% oil-free air. The oil seal also incorporates an oil slinger ring on the outboard casing side to prevent oil migration along the shaft. Aluminum alloy construction is standard, with bronze or other materials available for more demanding applications.
Labyrinth Seals
The Centac CX Series blower utilizes a gear-rotor type pump that is integral to the gear case and driven by the bullgear shaft for reliable operation – ensuring bearing lubrication even in the event of power failure. The pump is actually oversized to ensure adequate lubrication to all components.

Inlet Guide Vane Assembly
Efficient and Reliable ControlA unique property of a single-stage blower design is the ability to throttle the machine capacity using an inlet guide vane damper. Inlet guide vanes prerotate the inlet gas and use kinetic energy to reduce compressor power consumption in partial load conditions.
Throttle Behavior
Centrifugal Impeller vs. Mixed-flow Impeller
The CX blower uses a mixed-flow machine design suitable for compression of air or gas. The gas flows smoothly across the face of the impeller into the diffusion chamber, reducing flow turbulence during compression, resulting in higher efficiencies and broader capacity range.
