Un progetto lanciato dal Consiglio Europeo di Essen del 1994 per creare un sistema di trasporti e una rete di infrastrutture plurimodali efficienti e sostenibili, tale da facilitare il rafforzamento del mercato interno quale presupposto per la crescita economica e la competitività dell’Unione sui mercati internazionali./ A project launched by the European Council in Essen in 1994 to create a transport system and a network of efficient and sustainable multimodal infrastructures, as to facilitate the strengthening of the internal market as a prerequisite for economic growth and competitiveness of the Union in the international markets.
