Lacey Elks Lodge #2518 NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER 2020
A message from our EXALTED RULER / JoAnn Crossley/PER 2020/2021
Hello Members, November , its the start of the Holiday Season and only 2 months away
to begin the New Year 2021 and hopefully we will be back to normal. Until then, while
visiting our Lodge, please assure that you are within the guidelines of Covid-19, always
wear a mask when walking in, visiting the restroom and walking around the lounge, ie:
playing darts, pool, etc. Since day one , my Officers and I have made a point to adhere
to all the covid-19 guidelines and new rules which change everyday from our Governor
and because of this we are constantly staying abreast of what’s happening and for
that, our lodge continues to stay open. The new rules for being inside is ventilation and
having fresh air circulate, so windows must be cracked a little on all sides. Flu season
is upon us, if you feel sick, please do not visit the lodge, stay home and get better and
visit us another day, don’t worry we will still be here.

Scholarship
The 2020-2021 Scholarship season has begun. The Elk’s are second only to the Federal
government in the amount of money they give away each year. Although scholarships can
seem confusing at times, I hope to demystify the process and help our members’ children
and grandchildren as well as the Lacey High School students apply for all the scholarships
that are available to them.
The first round of deadlines is for the Elk’s National Foundation “Most Valuable Student
Scholarship” (all seniors in H.S. are eligible) (Deadline November 15, 2020). Our lodge can
send three boys and three girls to the District for consideration in the ENF Most Valuable
Student competition. The State and the ENF begin awarding money at this level.
The ENF “Legacy Awards” ($4000) (any child, grandchild, step-child, step-grandchild or le-
gal ward of an Elk is eligible) deadline is February 5, 2021. The applications for both
scholarships are online, just go to www.elks.org/enf/scholars.
The local Lacey Elk’s Legacy Scholarship and the State Family Scholarship application pro-
cess will begin in the late winter. (More to follow on that process later)
Lastly, I would like to thank the Lodge for giving me the opportunity to help with the Schol-
arship Program at Lacey Lodge. My back ground is in high school guidance and college
counseling. I am looking forward to working with any students you know that would like
help in completing the applications or any other questions they might have. I can be
reached at (201)327-1241 or by e-mail at [email protected]
