In my walk- arounds this week students have been learning about micro-organisms, valuable life skills in regards to paying tax, key reading strategies, dramatic performance techniques and so much more. It is an absolute pleasure to see students engaged in a wide range of learning. It was also lovely to receive some persuasive letters from Year 3 this week and I look forward to replying to them next week. I’m also looking forward to hearing how the Year 12 students enjoyed their HSC Study Days at Condobolin High School. I have attached an important document that I’d like you to carefully read. The community charter was released last year and it ensures all communication between the school and the community is in line with the three values of collaboration, respect and communication. I truly value these three areas in all communication with you and believe we can always work in a positive manner to improve outcomes for all students. Lastly, I’d like to remind you that attendance is compulsory for students’ every day, unless they are sick or other exceptional circumstances. It is good practice that if you take your child to a medical practitioner you obtain a medical certificate to cover any absence. I encourage you to do this in future and also ensure your child is attending school every day. If you have any concerns around this, please contact your child’s teacher. I’m looking forward to another excellent week of learning. Have a safe and wonderful weekend. COMMUNITY NEWS

Media Release

What lives on the Island? Ever wondered about what the locals call “the Island” (actually called Robinson Crusoe Island). Very few people have been out there, and even fewer can tell you about its cultural heritage, ecology, and history. Cargelligo Wetlands and Lakes Council have been appointed as the managers of the reserve and would like to both share and learn more about Robinson Crusoe Island’s history, culture and ecology. CWLC are hosting an island campout on Saturday April 6 2019. Our very own resident ecologist, Dr Fish (Adam Kerezsy), will be demonstrating fish sampling, helping us and policy makers to understand more about how important the Lake Cargelligo system is to the health of the Lachlan catchment. Bird enthusiasts Warren Chad and Rebecca Sanson will be conducting bird surveys - to get a taste of what you might see check out the impressive Birds of Lake Cargelligo Facebook page. CWLC will be sharing their ideas and goals for the rehabilitation of the island. The CWLC Robinson Crusoe barge will be leaving from Deadman’s Point from 2pm on April 6 and returning over the morning of April 7. Bring your swags or tents, chairs, and torches (and $2 to become a member). CWLC will be catering but keep in mind it is a bush camp - facilities will be limited (that is, there are none). Numbers will also be limited so register your interest early by calling Peter Skipworth 0428 981 749.
