PSA Laguna Celebrates 6th Anniversary With Team Building

Lakers Balita July - September 2019

Simultaneous with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) central office and all PSA field offices, PSA Laguna celebrated its 6th anniversary with the theme “Working Smarter Through Innovation” at Caliraya Lake Resort Club, Inc. last September 12-13. It was a two-day celebration which aimed not only to unwind and enjoy but also to learn.

Full of learning experiences constituted the

first day because of the interesting topics shared and discussed by the invited guest speakers.

Provincial Statistics Officer Magdalena T.

Serqueña, welcomed the guests and participants and greeted all PSA Laguna employees a “happy 6th anniversary.” She also thanked the speakers and the September Committee for organizing the events.

Ms. Maria Carmencita M. Ong-Cruz and Mr.

Ross Anthony T. Ravelas were the morning speakers from GSIS Laguna. They discussed different loan programs, benefits and other services a government employee can availed of from GSIS. From among the topics they discussed, GSIS Financial Assistance Loan or (GFAL) captured the interest of majority. GFAL is a type of loan which was offered first to DepEd workers, and until recently it was also introduced and offered to all government workers. According to them, this type of loan will benefit all government workers who are being burdened by many loans with too high interest. It is a type of loan in which the GSIS will pay all the loans as appeared in the payroll up to a maximum loanable amount of 500,000 pesos. The loan is payable for six years and with 6% interest. If the loan, as they said is less than 500,000 pesos, borrowers can still avail the remaining amount and can be used for other purpose. Sample computations were shown by the speaker that made the loan more enticing.

In the afternoon, Ms. Merell L. Sales and Ms. Lucy G. Pailan from Laguna Provincial Gender and Development

Office lectured on Gender and Development, particularly on Stress and Management and Mental Health. The discussion were composed of sit work where one can identify his or her level of stress; lectures and some sort of dancing and body stretching. Video presentations were also part of the discussion.

The second day of the celebration focused on Team Building. Since it was a rainy day, only four group games

were played. After the games, Blue Team and Green Team got same scores. The tied teams agreed not to play again and decided to distribute the prize equally. After the Team Building, some took high rides, swIm; others wandered around.

Awarding of prizes, posing for pictures and closing ceremony concluded the events. Despite the weather

condition, it was full of experience for all PSA Laguna employees.
