Parents Meeting

We are holding an information evening on Tuesday 9th February at 7pm in the Toll Booth, Lanark.

This is our annual parents meeting. A chance for you to find out what will be going on over the next year and air any views or opinions you may have.

The meeting is a great venue for our new members to find out anything they may be unsure of.

The meeting is for parents and not members so if at all possible leave the kids at home. They will be bored!

Great Spring and Summer events to look forward to

Spring and Summer Rallies

Get your diaries out as we have dates for the outdoor rallies!

All the rallies are on Sundays and all except the March rally are full day rallies with instruction in the morning and activities and competitions after lunch. The March rally will be instruction only and in the morning.

Because of the amazing number of you who take part in the outdoor rallies we have had to change the format slightly to accommodate everyone. The morning lessons will now be an hour and a half long and split into two time groups. I.e. 10am to 11.30am or 11.30 am until 1pm. You will be told your time in advance to allow you to arrive on time.

If you would like to come along to the rallies we would ask that you e-mail Julie McCulloch [email protected] before Sunday 28 February. Janette Pullen will then be able to work out the groups and you will be notified of your ride time.

The Committee are delighted that we are able to keep the cost of the outdoor rallies at £5 per member payable in advance.

The dates are:

28 March, 19 April, 9 May, 20 June, 8 August and 12 September

At the moment there are no firm arrangements but as soon as we have a clear idea of numbers we will be able to give you more details. No payment is requested at the moment, just an indication of who would like to take part.

Outdoor Games Training

Outdoor games practice will resume on Sunday 7th March at the Longshot, Lanark, 10am – 12pm. There is no charge for games practice and all members are welcome to come along.

Brian Ross is hoping to hold some indoor training before this date and if this is possible we will let you know where and when.

If you need any further information regarding games please contact Brian Ross [email protected]

Scotland Games Team Trials

Allyson Ross has been selected to represent our branch at the Scotland Team trials at Crofthead, Kirkintilloch on Sunday 14 March. We all wish Allyson the very best of luck.

Polo Camps

These events are not run by our branch but you might want to go along.

Easter Camp is to be held at Howe County Centre in Fife on 8/9 April. Junior Summer Camp is at the Polo Grounds at Scone on 14/16 July and Senior Camp, at the same venue is 19/23 July. If you require any information regarding these events or anything to do with polo please contact Katie Coward [email protected] . Katie is the Polo coordinator for Scotland.

L & U Cross County Competition Sunday 13 June, Douglas Estate

This year’s competition is on Sunday 13th June. This is our major fundraiser for the year and requires a lot of preparation beforehand and many helpers on the day. This event is what enables us to keep the cost of our rallies so low. More information and requests for help will be forthcoming over the coming months.

Games Zones Final – Sat 10th & Sunday 11th July

After the success of last year’s event we have been asked to host this national event again.

As you can imagine or may know from last year, this is a huge undertaking and we will require lots of help. We will be in touch over the next couple of months with more information about the event and requests for help.

Summer Camp 9 – 11 August 2010, Longshot, Lanark

We are delighted to say that after the success of last year’s camp we can confirm that we will again be holding this event at the Longshot from Monday 9th August until Wednesday 11 August. As last year, no child can attend camp

without adult supervision. We have no definite plans or costs yet but will let you know as soon as arrangements become available. In the meantime if you know that you will be interested in attending camp please contact Julie McCulloch [email protected] so that we can start to get an idea of numbers.

Endurance Riding

Above is a picture of Seonaid Hume being presented with a rosette after taking part in the inaugural Pony Club Endurance Ride way back in the glorious warmth of August 2009. Hopefully there will be another ride organised, possibly at Culzean, in the spring of this year.

We need your help

As mentioned in previously newsletters we are running Riding and Road Safety Lessons later in the Spring. To do this properly Janette Pullen needs traffic lights, road signs, cones etc. If you have (you never know!!) any of the foregoing or could possibly use your artistic skills and make some, please contact Janette [email protected]. She will be delighted to hear from you.
