Guitarist Jon Moore has enjoyed a bizarrely disparate (and onlyoccasionally desperate!) musical life. Writing and playing folkmusic (Jumpleads and Tiger Moth) reggae (Edward II) gypsy jazz(Hotcha) and recently funky bluesy hip-hop (Carpe) has takenhim around the world.Recently Jon decided to write some original tunes suitable forthe open explorations of jazzhe open explorations of jazz. Lancaster Jazz Festival will seethe first public debut of this material and the co-incident launchof a CD. Expect strong melodies, a variety of styles, local heroesto help him out, and general good humour.

The Neil Cowley Trio is not your typical jazztrio. A dazz ling composer, pianist Cowleycreates deeply engaging, and dynamic musicthat journeys between poetic and poignant, pomp and splendour to powerful rip-roaringriffs. It is instrumental music that referencesDebussy and Stebussy and Steve Reich as much asSpiritualized and Arcade Fire, and is powerfulenough to break down standard perceptionsof genre. Its sheer emotion and energy touchlovers of all music.@neilcowleytrio
