Dear Parents!Welcome to KG Adventure & Xplore, a youth travel operator with experienced staff who are enthusiastically dedicated to organising and running language activity holiday camps. At our camps we believe in a balanced mix of learning and pure holiday fun.

This year’s brochure is slightly different to the 2010 version as it’s exclusively for students who live outside of the UK. For youngsters living in the UK wanting to book the same holidays then please contact us for a brochure created especially for you!

Learning languages is becoming increasingly important in today’s modern multi-cultural society. But what actually makes a good language holiday? Why choose KG Adventure & Xplore? Well we offer perfectly designed and diversified language courses with small classes matching the needs and requirements of each individual student. Our beautiful destinations and supporting programme including fantastic activities and interesting excursions make for a great holiday.

As parents you can be assured that we value the care and welfare of your children very highly. Our camps are selected for the quality of their facilities, environment and their location. Furthermore, we put comprehensive health and safety checks in place to guarantee the camps are continually risk assessed and meet the necessary industry standards. We also spend a great deal of time and effort in carefully selecting the staff

that work at our camps ensuring they have the necessary qualifications, personality and maturity to be responsible for our students (your children). Our staff selection process includes intensive training and assessment, first aid training and following up with authorities to ensure that the individual is cleared to work with young people. We believe that having the right people to look after and care for your children is the most important part of making sure students have a safe and enjoyable holiday experience with us.

The international aspect is also very important for us. The unique atmosphere in our camps provides a wonderful way for your children to learn about other cultures, build new friendships with students from other countries and mutually enjoy the school break. Our native speaking staff team continually encourage students to practice their language skills and learn from each other, helping make the big world we live in feel that bit smaller!

We hope that you enjoy learning more about our different camps and destinations and the various programmes they offer and we look forward to welcoming your child/ren in the very near future!

Best wishes,KG Adventure & Xplore team

Travel InfoTransfers to all our camps are included and a member of our staff team will be at the airport to welcome you and get you onto the bus for camp (for more information on our transfer service please refer to page 35 of this brochure and the separate booking form). Upon arrival at camp you will have a brief tour of the campus, whilst getting to know fellow students and receiving useful information to help you with your first few days. On the following morning you are required to take a written and oral assessment in order for our teachers to determine your English language skills. The results of this test will help our teachers organise you into the appropriate English class so that you get the very best out of the lessons during your stay. Lessons are only one part of the holiday and at each camp there will be an exciting, fun-packed and flexible activity programme on offer for you and your new friends to relax and enjoy. Then there are the ‘excursion days’, with London a particular ‘must see’, plus trips to other cool cities and theme parks. Please read the following pages to get more travel info, find out more about our English language classes, sports courses and activities on offer, plus all the day trips too.

AccommodationKG Adventure exclusively uses private boarding schools for the language camps in England. We guarantee modern equipped classrooms, internet access, excellent sports facilities, theatres, cosy TV/DVD rooms and lots more for your perfect camp experience! The bedrooms are practically furnished and vary from single to 6 bedded rooms. In your short time at camp you will learn how English students live in the rooms all year round and whilst you may not have time to make them your own, the rooms are warm and comfortable and you will soon make them feel like home. Toilets and showers are located on the same level as your room and shared with fellow students at camp. More importantly, it is the areas where you will spend the majority of your time that you will find most impressive. The classroom areas, sports and activity facilities are first class; with everything you need provided for. Then

there are the dining rooms where everyone meets up and talks about their day over freshly cooked food with plenty of choice for everyone. Our focus is to create an environment in which you are happy and comfortable; encouraging you to improve your language proficiency whilst participating in cool activities and meeting friends of a similar age.

Our staff teamA great team of carefully selected, fun-loving and caring staff will await you at the camp of your choice. Our qualified, native speaking English teachers look after you during interactive and fulfilling classes and will also be around to support you during meal times and on excursions. The leisure time activities are then taken by our enthusiastic, qualified English speaking staff members, each of them trained and qualified to deliver the particular activity or sport. All the staff work together to ensure you have the care and support you require from the moment you arrive at camp through to the end of your stay. Our staff take great pride and responsibility in what they do and adapt their approach to each individual student, whether you are a younger camper away from home for the first time or a more mature student looking for a bit of independence.

English, please! This is the motto at camp whether inside the classroom or around the camp on activities or during free time. With students coming to camp from a variety of different countries, including England, Spain, Italy, Egypt, Algeria, Korea, just to name a few, English is used as the common language for everyone. Our staff continually motivate and encourage you to speak English and we are very successful in improving students’ confidence in using their language skills, even among the youngest campers. But don’t worry - our staff will always be on hand to help with vocabulary and anything else that you do not understand.

“To be an Assistant Centre Manager means hard work and a lot of responsibility but in the end it also means having an amazing summer. You meet people from all over the world and when the kids are going home crying, you know that your effort and energy has made their summer. Now, working in my 4th year it’s still new and challenging for me. But I just enjoy it!”Bennet Möller, ACM Saint Felix

English CoursesSelf Confidence, Motivation and Fun LearningFor parents, learning English may be the top priority of your summer camp experience. On the other hand, your priority is probably to have a fun and exhilarating language learning experience. Therefore, we believe that English lessons at camp should not be just another day in a classroom. Our classes are aimed at being an interesting, modern, activity based learning experience whilst incorporating the fundamentals such as vocabulary learning and grammar exercises.

‘Classic’ or ‘Booster’Our regular ‘classic’ English course is already included in the standard fee for a stay at camp. These lessons run over 4 x 45 minute sessions, 5 days a week. This means during a 2 week language trip you will be in class for 30 full hours. Class sizes vary from 8 to a maximum of 12 students. For those of you looking for a more intense English language learning experience, our Woodbridge and Westonbirt centres also offer special ‘booster’ courses on top of the regular ‘classic’ course. This ‘booster’ course involves a maximum of only 5 students per course giving our teachers more time and attention to each of you and your specific language needs and requests. This extra course runs for an additional 10 hours per week, with a focus on either conversation or grammar. The surcharge for a ‘booster’ course is !"150,-

06

Page 7: Language Activity Camps 2011

English TeachersOur English teachers come from England, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA. All of them are native speakers. They are young, yet also very experienced. In order to adjust to each class of students they constantly adapt, update and optimise their lesson plans, whilst incorporating your wishes and interests during classes.

Student AssessmentYou are split in to the appropriate level class after you take an initial assessment test at the very first day of camp. It is our teacher’s discretion and careful analysis, that decides which of you will attend which particular class. However, the two major criteria in making their decision are age and proficiency.

Course Content At KG Adventure language camps we put a strong focus on oral participation and improving each individual’s communication skills. We use our own material that has been specially designed for our interactive and modern style of language holidays. This teaching material covers different age groups, levels and interests spanning across all cultures. For our older students who attend the Woodbridge camp, individuals can focus on specific priorities within their language skills levels where they choose from Conversation, Grammar, English Literature, Essay Writing or Drama.

Cultural LessonsA fantastic add-on to our courses are the optional ‘Cultural Lessons’ that our teachers offer free-of-charge to all campers at Worksop and Woodbridge. During 2 evenings per week these relaxed and informal get-togethers focus on regional distinctions and characteristics of the country.

CertificateAt the end of their stay you will receive a certificate of completion including an individual performance report.

‘Passport to English’This is our guideline to all English courses. Over 6 levels we offer thorough, comprehensive classes for all abilities and ages.

‘Hello’ ClassOur beginner course for those younger campers aged 6 to 10 years with very little or no language proficiency.

Breakthrough/Young LearnersIdeal for children who have been learning English for approximately 1 year before coming to camp. Students will understand various words but are unable to put together sentences.

PreliminaryOur third level addresses those of you with 2 to 3 years’ experience of the English language. Students at this level will understand and participate in basic English conversations but will require a great amount of effort and support.

IntermediateAt intermediate level you can understand most conversations. English responses, although not perfect, will come more naturally and intelligently but they will still require practice.

AdvancedYou will now have a good and expansive vocabulary and understand almost everything. You will be confident and can go beyond the basic responses and elaborate your thoughts.

ProficiencyAt the top level you possess near fluency in your language ability. You can understand and respond to difficult questions. Your English knowledge includes abstract terms and phrases.

English LessonsIf you would like to attend our camp at Saint Felix ideally you would have already been learning English at school for at least 2 years so that you are ready to join our ‘preliminary level’ class. Our teachers are young and enthusiastic but are also very experienced as we want you to enjoy your English lessons and therefore we choose topics that are interesting for your age group. Don’t be surprised if you also find yourself learning about the local traditions such as the origin of the sandwich, why fish is served in old newspapers and why English people drive on the left-hand side of the road! You will definitely learn a great deal whist you are at camp and for sure everything is in English!

Day TripsAt Saint Felix our excursions will take you to interesting places in the surrounding area. A trip to London is definitely a must, plus we go to cities like Norwich and Cambridge, which also offer lots of interesting attractions. Norwich has some of the best shopping that the region has to offer whilst the university city of Cambridge is bursting with tradition and culture. A punting trip down the River Cam will give you some of the best views of the famous colleges and historic buildings.

Our new camp, Walnutree Manor is a 20-acre site in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. It’s slightly smaller than our other centres, perfectly suited to smaller groups during the holidays at Easter, Whitsun and in autumn.

Previously an independent boarding school, Klub Group Adventure has recently developed this venue into an all year round adventure activity and education centre. Not only are there plenty of activities on-site at Walnutree Manor, but also with lots of leisure rooms, an indoor air rifle range and a big sports hall it is an ideal place for a holiday during the colder season when it gets dark early. For those who seek adventure there is a quad bike track and an archery range as well as a low ropes course. But there are also lots of creative activities on offer for example arts and crafts and airbrush tattoos. The evenings are filled with fun activities such as campfire, night hike, talent show and disco. English LessonsAt Walnutree Manor it doesn’t matter if you have only just started learning English or if you are already more experienced. We offer lessons on all levels from Breakthrough to Advanced. One of the many good things about coming to camp in the quieter periods of the year is that classes are smaller, giving teachers more opportunity to respond to every student individually. Lesson plans are built around your holiday with an emphasis on practical learning through activities such as role-plays and conversational activities. As always, our teachers always aim to make the lessons fun and enjoyable.

Day TripsAs some children only stay for 1 week and others for a longer period, excursions alternate every week. One week we will take you to London to show you all the sights and to take you to one of the big attractions the city has to offer; for example Madame Tussauds, the London Eye or the London Dungeons. The other week we will visit historic Cambridge with all the famous colleges, small streets and shops. To top off a great day out you will enjoy punting down the river that splits the city in two.
