Learning Intentions

Provide learners with the opportunity to develop

their reading, listening, talking and writing skills,

in order to understand and use a modern lan-

guage.

Develop and extend reading and listening skills in

the modern language, and to develop their

knowledge and understanding of detailed and

complex language in the contexts of society,

learning, employability, and culture.

Provide learners with the opportunity to develop

and extend talking and writing skills in the modern

language, and to develop their knowledge and

understanding of detailed and complex language

in the contexts of society, learning, employability,

and culture.

Component 1 — question paper: reading and

writing (40 marks) The purpose of this question

paper is to allow learners to demonstrate chal-

lenge and application in the skills of reading and

writing.

Component 2 — question paper: listening and

writing (30 marks) The purpose of this question

paper is to allow learners to demonstrate chal-

lenge and application in the skills of listening and

writing.

Component 3 — performance: talking and listen-

ing (30 marks) The purpose of this performance is

to carry out a spoken presentation and conversa-

tion in the modern language from one of the fol-

lowing contexts: society, learning, employability,

or culture.
