Laos Fact SheetLaos, officially called the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, is a small landlocked country in Southeast Asia, bordered by Myanmar, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. It has a population of 6.8 million people. The official language is Lao, with 89 other languages also spoken. Since 1975, Laos has been ruled by a Marxist and communist government and does not have freedom of religion. 2.6% of the population is evangelical Christian, with an estimated percentage of evangelical growth per year of 5.7%. God is at work through the following:

CORNERSTONES• Evangelism - 10 short-term mission teams visit Laos for the purposes of evangelism through SEAPC annually.• Church Planting - SEAPC has planted multiple churches in every province of Laos. The goal is to plant 10 new

churches annually.• Disciple Making - 20 emerging ministry leaders are participating in scholarship opportunities while over 1,000 local

leaders are participating in discipleship programs.• Leadership Development - SEAPC hosts five leadership events in Laos annually with over 5,000 participants.

PLATFORMS• Parenting - Raising Kids is currently working to develop a child sponsorship program for orphaned or abandoned

children living in Laos with the goal of meeting the daily needs of 250 children.• Education - SEAPC provides education for over 1,000 college students daily to be trained in accounting, business

management, computer science, teaching, and agricultural science.• Healthcare - Short-term medical mission teams provide healthcare at the village level semi-annually. • Economic Development - The Garden of Hope provides a two-year intensive training program for young men and

women from the Lao countryside to be trained in agricultural sciences, English, business, music, and the Word of God. Small business grants are given to students upon graduation.

SEEDBEDS• Management - SEAPC-Laos is led by Pastor Hubert Chan who serves 18 full-time staff. Administrative covering is

provided by SEAPC.• Development - SEAPC-Laos is currently functioning on a $150,000 annual budget.• Accounting - Independent annual audits are provided locally. SEAPC is independently audited annually by

Wessel & Company.• Communications - Monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting is made available to all contributors.
